In a crossover fit for the strange year that is 2020, the Twitter account for CD Projekt Red's upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077 replied to rapper and music producer Kanye West's tweet announcing his entry into the US presidential election. In a further plot twist, the Cyberpunk 2077 account did not reply to Kanye directly, but instead to SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk's own tweet endorsing the superstar rapper.
Recently, Kanye West has gotten back on Twitter to make a series of announcements including the trailer for an animated series based off his 2018 collaborative album with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts. But in classic Kanye fashion, the modern-day Renaissance man topped his previous announcements with an even bigger one: confirming his entry as a presidential candidate.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk replied to the tweet, endorsing the Grammy-winning producer and rapper. The account for Cyberpunk 2077 then replied to Musk's tweet in a cryptic manner. Whether this is an endorsement or not cannot be discerned, but considering that Kanye follows Cyberpunk 2077 on Twitter, this may just be some banter between the superstar musician, the technology entrepreneur, and a video game.
Interestingly, Cyberpunk 2077 replied to Musk's tweet and not to Kanye's tweet directly. This could be further teasing that the Tesla Cybertruck may appear in-game as a drivable vehicle, but there is potential that this connection goes beyond a vehicle and could lead to CD Projekt Red making use of Kanye's many talents.
The Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack has already confirmed that the likes of Grimes (coincidentally dating Musk), A$AP Rocky and Run the Jewels will be featured on it. The full line-up has not been confirmed yet, leaving room for Kanye to come in and work his magic as a producer and rapper to add to the futuristic atmosphere of the game's setting in Night City.
Furthermore, there is also potential for Kanye to make an in-game appearance, considering Grimes having personally confirmed her appearance and of course Keanu Reeves being cast as Johnny Silverhand. If Kanye has any involvement with the upcoming RPG, it will be very interesting to see in what capacity he is involved, whether it will be on the soundtrack or in the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 releases on November 19 for PS4, Xbox One and PC, with Stadia, PS5 and Xbox Series X versions to follow.
