The highly anticipated sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 houses a reference to the popular manga JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure by Hirohiko Araki. Revealed by Ken Xyro on Twitter, it turns out that from the variety of poses available, players can select one that is specifically alluding to the long-running manga.

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red recently showed off the robust Photo Mode in-game. Players interested in this feature can select different poses, filters, effects, and more to capture memorable moments from their adventure. One of the optional poses is titled "V’s Bizarre Pose," a not-so-subtle tease of Araki’s magnum opus.

The pose itself looks to come from Part 2 of the manga, Battle Tendency. In Part 2, the main character, Joseph Joestar, teams up with Caesar Zeppeli to take out the antagonists. At one point in the story, Caesar strikes a pose that is an exact match to V’s Bizarre Pose. The design of the positioning, along with the name, proves that this is indeed a reference to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is not the only manga reference hidden in Cyberpunk 2077’s photo mode. Within the same post, Ken Xyro includes an additional pose called "In the Name of the Moon, I’ll Punish You!" For those unaware, this is an obvious nod to another famous manga series, Sailor Moon. The namesake and design of the pose come from the leading character Usagi Tsukino's signature quote.

Hype for Cyberpunk 2077 is high, and players of all kinds are no doubt ready for the game to release. However, it is unlikely that anyone expects references to famous manga series, especially one like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Most games need a great Photo Mode, as it is a fantastic way for fans to interact with the game world and share their experiences online. With multiple manga-inspired poses in the base game, there should be plenty of tributes posted once Cyberpunk 2077 is out.

While the reference is a small one, some players may question CD Projekt Red's pandering to manga fans. Over the past few months leading up to the release, CD Projekt Red has received flack for developer crunch on Cyberpunk 2077. And any bad blood within the gaming community will surely be exasperated by early leaks, which could show less than desirable results. That said, V’s Bizarre Pose is an unexpected nod to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure which will make for hilarious photos.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases December 10, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions in development.
