CD Projekt Red recently confirmed that its forthcoming action-RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, is playable from start to finish in-studio, but of course, the developer still has plenty more to do when it comes to fully fleshing out the project. As it so happens, the company recently explained some of the aspects of the game that continue to be refined, with one of those details revealing that gun combat is being worked on by a former professional player of Counter-Strike.

According to CD Projekt Red, this one-time Counter-Strike pro was brought on board to help ensure that Cyberpunk 2077's shooting mechanics would have the right "groove" or feel, as this is the developer's first foray into first-person shooter territory. However, the studio didn't divulge the name of the professional player that it hired to assist in refining gun combat. Nevertheless, fans looking forward to the game began sleuthing to determine the identity of the dev in question.

As mentioned by several Cyberpunk 2077 fans, the most likely person to fit the bill of an ex-Counter-Strike pro working with CD Projekt Red is Łukasz "LUq" Wnęk, the former Polish professional Counter-Strike player. After all, the former CD Projekt Red developer Damien Monnier confirmed a couple of years ago that LUq had been added to Cyberpunk 2077 team to assist with the creation of the forthcoming game.

Taking all of this into account, it will be interesting to see if Cyberpunk 2077 reflects the shooting mechanics of Counter-Strike in any way, as LUq's contributions to helping design the gun combat likely rely on his in-depth knowledge of Valve's first-person shooter. Of course, fans will simply have to wait and see exactly how the forthcoming action-RPG plays once it officially hits store shelves. Whenever that will be, though, is still up in the air, as the project's release date still could be a few years away.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development without an official release date, but is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
