Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed several times, but developer CD Projekt Red revealed that players should rest easy now that the game's November 19 release date is pretty much guaranteed. Of course, apart from being one of this year's highly anticipated games, Cyberpunk 2077 also stands to be the most technologically advanced given CD Projekt Red's stellar reputation in releasing quality games.

Of course, Cyberpunk 2077's release date couldn't have come at a better time given the many advancements in gaming technology right now. Both Sony and Microsoft are set to release the PS5 and Xbox Series X later this year, and as for PC players, a new line of graphics cards are also on the horizon, with the latest being Nvidia's RTX 3080. Of course, the RTX 3080 sounds impressive on paper, but players are yet to see its wonders once it's released. However, based on what has been revealed so far, it appears that Cyberpunk 2077 would be the perfect game to test out the RTX 3080's technological capabilities.

Cyberpunk 2077 Should Utilize the RTX 3080's Ray Tracing and Other Cutting Edge Features

Earlier this month, CD Projekt Red in partnership with Nvidia released a gameplay trailer that gives players a glimpse of how Cyberpunk 2077 will run on the new RTX 3080. In the preview, Nvidia boasted how Cyberpunk 2077 will benefit from all the new technology that is housed in the company's new line of GPUs. Although the preview is short and is under a minute long, it was able to show off some amazingly beautiful graphics, and the lighting effects, reflections, and overall clarity of the image just go to show the power of the RTX 3080.

Moreover, one of the highlights of the RTX 3080 as showcased in Nvidia's announcement is its superior ray tracing technology. In the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer, the vast open-world environment that CD Projekt Red has created appears to be more vibrant and realistic, especially since the world itself is just filled with a modern futuristic look.

However, given that the latest trailer of Cyberpunk 2077 is a showcase to feature the RTX 3080, it is likely that the settings and hardware used to capture the trailer are all high-end. Of course, there are many components in a PC that plays a vital role in the performance of a game, but from a graphics standpoint, it appears that the RTX 3080's power is undeniable and will certainly increase the game's immersive qualities.

Should You Upgrade to the RTX 3080?

So, for PC players who are patiently waiting for the release of Cyberpunk 2077, is the RTX 3080 worth the upgrade? The answer to that would differ depending on the player's priorities. However, for those who are upgrading their GPU anyway and are looking for the best one out there to run Cyberpunk 2077 and other triple-A games, the RTX 3080 is definitely worth it. While it is not cheap at $699, it is not really a surprise especially since the RTX 3080 will be Nvidia's most cutting edge graphics card. Moreover, the lower-end RTX 3070 will be available on October 15 for $500 and the higher-end RTX 3090 on September 24 for a whopping price of $1,500.

Of course, those who are not looking to upgrade to the RTX 30 line should know that the RTX 2080 and other cards within the same line are still capable graphics cards that could still run Cyberpunk 2077, and other games that will release after it. However, for those who are considering an upgrade, the RTX 3080 is set to launch on September 17th, giving players just enough time to set up their gaming rigs in preparation for Cyberpunk 2077's release.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to launch on November 19, 2020, for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will release later for the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
