E3 2019 is only a few weeks away, and most of the time, developers who are participating in the expo will take the opportunity to allow gamers to test out demos of their upcoming games, especially those that are on the brink of release. Unfortunately for fans eager to try out CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077, the developer confirmed that it will not have a playable demo available at the event.

While attendees won't be able to try out the game, CD Projekt Red's Marcin Momot clarified that the studio will host gameplay presentations where they themselves will be playing the demo of Cyberpunk 2077, just as they did at E3 2018. CD Projekt Red also assured fans watching at home that they won't be left out on upcoming updates given that the gameplay demo will be broadcasted live for those who are unable to attend E3.

Although CD Projekt Red plans to demo Cyberpunk 2077's gameplay, the absence of a public demo and a release date seems to suggest that the game is still far from complete. Of course, CD Projekt Red is known to take its time during the development process to ensure the quality of the final product. However, given the debacle that the development of BioWare's Anthem has gone through, one can't help but worry if Cyberpunk 2077 will share a similar path to that of Anthem.

Several days ago, a former developer at CD Projekt Red, who spoke anonymously, revealed that the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is not that different from Anthem's. The dev explained that there are numerous parallels between the "rocky development" of Anthem and the "even-more-rocky-to-become development" of Cyberpunk 2077. The dev even went out to say that "at times, I've felt I could just replace the studio name and the game title, and it would all look so similar, almost identical."

While CD Projekt Red did not comment on the statements thrown out by its former employee, the developer did make a public announcement a couple of days ago that it wants to be known as a studio that respects its developers, just as much as it respects its players. Of course, given that Cyberpunk 2077 is still in development, it is still too early to say if the game will share the same fate as Anthem. Hopefully, CD Projekt Red will be able to deliver a high-quality game, just as it did with its popular video game adaptation of The Witcher franchise.

Cyberpunk 2077 is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
