CD Projekt Red has confirmed that its highly-anticipated follow-up to 2015's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, is due to receive free DLC following the game's launch.

Responding to a fan question asking if Cyberpunk 2077's DLC will be free like that of its "big brother" The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the official Cyberpunkgame Twitter account gave fans a definitive response. Fans eager for the sci-fi RPG/shooter can now start anticipating free DLC thanks to a tongue-in-cheek gif of the Kool-Aid man bursting through a wall, proclaiming "Ohhh yeaahh!"

Additionally, the developer acknowledged fan concerns regarding the size of subtitles being too small. Thankfully, players will be able to adjust subtitles to their preferred liking, with customization available for both size and color. Although accessibility options like this will undoubtedly be appreciated by fans worldwide, the announcement that free DLC will eventually be provided will further incentivize those curious about the game or its replayability -- and potentially convince those who may be on the fence looking for a long-term gaming investment for their hard-earned money. However, it's worth noting that at the time of writing, it is unknown how extensive this free DLC will be and whether it pertains to cosmetic items, stat boosts, or additional story missions.

As one of 2020's most anticipated titles, CD Projekt Red has been hosting a range of Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire events to showcase different gameplay options and open world elements available within the game from character arcs demonstrating its progressive Lifepath stories to combat and weapons. The game's Senior Quest Designer Miles Tost recently confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be leaning heavily into the game's role-playing aspects, promising how the title intends to be an RPG first and a shooter second. This news is unsurprising given Cyberpunk 2077's roots as a tabletop RPG game, Cyberpunk 2020, which was written by Mike Pondsmith and published by created by R. Talsorian Games.

The upcoming RPG/FPS will see players rooted in the dystopian Night City, an open world boasting six distinct and unique regions. Gamers will take on the role of a customizable mercenary named V, who can be developed and changed as the player sees fit. They earn additional skills in hacking and machinery that they can then use whilst arming themselves with a range of different weapons and developing V's proficiency in melee combat.

V's stat categories -- which include Body, Intelligence, Reflexes, Technical, and Cool -- are influenced by the character classes the gamer decides on. These range from NetRunner, Techie and Solo. Those variant options, coupled with the game's sprawling open world, promises to give players a plethora of choice to turn V into the exact kind of character that best suits their playing style as they prepare to lose themselves within the layered, sci-fi dystopia of Cyberpunk 2077. That future DLC is planned at least lets gamers know that whatever time and investment they put into their character may eventually pay off in the future when the DLC is eventually released.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches November 19 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
