Cyberpunk 2077 released last December in a state many would call abysmal if it wasn't played on the best possible gaming PCs. This is especially true for last-gen consoles, namely the PS4 and Xbox One, and it has stirred a lot of controversy in recent months. Since the game's release, though, CD Projekt Red has been hard at work, releasing patch after patch to improve the game. Recently, if with a warning, Cyberpunk 2077 returned to the PlayStation Store and CD Projekt Red has deemed its performance "satisfactory."

However, with all of this going on, it's easy to miss that Cyberpunk 2077's free DLC window has also passed by without an update. It remains to be seen what this DLC is exactly, likely to be small cosmetics, weapon additions, and similar items like The Witcher 3, but it's now in need of an update. The initial roadmap said that free DLC would be out by now, and it simply isn't yet.

First spotted by Forbes, it's worth mentioning that the initial roadmap for Cyberpunk 2077 wasn't very detailed. It did indicate, however, that free, minor DLC would release in the first half of 2021 (not to be confused with any major Cyberpunk 2077 expansions), and with July having now arrived, that DLC is still not available. The free Cyberpunk 2077 DLC was first listed for early 2021, then the first half of 2021, and now with the latest update, it seems the DLC has just been clumped up into the patches and updates still planned for the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 Roadmap

While it seems the free DLC has missed its initial markers, it's worth mentioning that the PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades for the game were said to release in the second half of 2021. According to CD Projekt RED, fans can still expect these Cyberpunk 2077 PS5, Xbox Series X upgrades later this year. The free DLC may be just releasing closer to that than initially indicated, but as the company has prioritized fixes and stability, it remains to be seen exactly what comes from the game throughout the rest of the year. It's worth noting that, even on the new timeline, the indicator separating free DLC and the next-gen upgrades isn't really defined.

As such, the latest timeline for Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't really address outline when to expect this free DLC either. As it stands, it seems fans wanting more content for the game, however minor, are still going to be waiting for a little while. CD Projekt Red has yet to comment on Cyberpunk 2077's free DLC, but perhaps its next update will outline things a bit clearer as it looks to move forward with the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
