The estimated Cyberpunk 2077 file size has been revealed several months before the game's release. Pre-orders for CD Projekt RED's hotly anticipated sci-fi RPG have now begun on the PlayStation Store and it's this PlayStation Store listing that has given fans an idea of just how large the game will be.

The description for Cyberpunk 2077 on the PlayStation Store reveals that the game will take up at least 80GB of space on the PS4's hard drive. CD Projekt RED is probably still optimizing the game to make it as storage friendly as possible and with just under 10 months to go until the game's release, some assets could be made much smaller. However, if the game does end up being around 80GB, some PS4 players may end up needing to buy an external hard drive.

CD Projekt RED may be able to optimize some parts of the game, but the way that the developer has described Cyberpunk 2077 does suggest that it will be a huge title. The developer has gone for verticality and has described Night City's skyscrapers has high-rises with tons of activities for players to do. The game's main missions will also have different paths and this will take up a big amount of space too.

The developer has also teased the many factions and districts of Night City. These areas are all very different from one another and so are unlikely to reuse all of the same assets, which is probably another reason why Cyberpunk 2077's file size is so large.

The Cyberpunk 2077 team hasn't yet spoken about plans to offer pre-loading for the game. The game's collector's editions don't have any early access offers and it seems that the developer wants everyone to enjoy the game for the first time, together. However, for those who have chosen to get a digital copy of the game, the time it takes to download 80GB could mean that they don't get to play it at launch.

CD Projekt RED does seem to be staying on top of what fans want and the developer seems to know how many fans are looking forward to the game, such as company's decision to give the "breathtaking" fan from E3 2019 a collector's edition. So, it does seem likely that it will offer pre-loading for Cyberpunk 2077 but nothing has been confirmed about that yet.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16, 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
