As Cyberpunk 2077’s release date inches ever-closer, players are preparing their dedicated systems for the game’s launch later this year. At the beginning of the month, the Global Community Lead at CD Projekt Red, Marcin Momot, assured fans that Cyberpunk won’t have a massive file size.

Now, Cyberpunk 2077’s system requirements for PC have officially been revealed, meaning PC players finally have a concrete idea of what their systems need to look like when the game launches. However, on social media platforms, fans are giving their varied reactions to Cyberpunk 2077’s overall file size, with a bit of mixed reception.

CD Projekt Red has been revealing a bunch of information about Cyberpunk 2077 in the months leading up to its release. Just today, the team revealed a brand new trailer giving a tour of Night City, one of the main cities in the world of Cyberpunk. Of course, the city looks and feels absolutely massive, with hundreds of NPCs moving about freely and monumental skyscrapers looming overhead. However, compared to how big the world of Cyberpunk actually looks from the outside, the game’s file size is fairly smaller than many fans expected.

The general file size for the game was revealed on Twitter, when the Cyberpunk’s PC system requirements were revealed on the game’s official account. The recommended storage space dedicated to the game on PC clocks in at 70GB. While that’s not very small by any means, it’s actually a lot smaller than many fans expected given the various reactions by some on social media. One Twitter user by the name of Khori Potter said, “ONLY 70gb?! You guys are f***ing magicians,” with a reaction gif showing some triumphant clapping.

Other gamers have reacted in a similar fashion, showing amazement not only at the game’s file size but also the minimum and recommended system requirements. One user by the name of Michael X reacted saying, “That is a HELL of an OPTIMIZATION for a AAA game of 2020!” However, there are still those players who are a bit unimpressed at the 70GB file size. One user by the name of It’s AB put forward that plenty of people must have “brilliant” internet speeds to be excited for a 70GB download. Still, Cyberpunk 2077’s world looks massive with tons of moving parts, so it should be no surprise that the game is at least 70GB in size.

Despite the game’s massive size, the game’s scope might just be a bit smaller in scope than CD Projekt Red’s last title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In fact, CD Projekt Red’s Senior Quest Designer Patrick Mills said that Cyberpunk 2077’s Campaign Length is "slightly shorter" than the Witcher 3’s. However, this probably won’t mean much, considering The Witcher 3’s campaign is ridiculously massive in its own right. All in all, it seems CD Projekt Red has done a fantastic job optimizing Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on November 19 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X versions coming later.
