Cyberpunk 2077's magazine cover with Ciri on the front isn't the only reference to CD Projekt Red's other major title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. One ending of Cyberpunk 2077 may also be a reference to the princess. This article contains mild spoilers for an ending to Cyberpunk 2077.

Because The Witcher series is the other group of games CD Projekt Red is known for, it was expected that the developer would sneak in a number of Witcher references throughout the game. The first one to go noticed by fans was the Ciri Easter egg that can be found in the Corpo introduction of Cyberpunk 2077. In this opening sequence, V will have their own desk at Arasaka. If the player opens it, a gaming magazine with Witcher 3 and Ciri on the front will be inside. But this may not be the only reference to Ciri in Cyberpunk 2077.

Should V choose to handle the final mission with the Aldecaldos, after all is said and done, V will wake inside Panam's car and a bird resembling a swallow will perch on the open window briefly before flying away again. While this may seem like a normal occurrence, data shards in Cyberpunk 2077 reveal that there should be no birds left in Night City due to the Avian Extermination Act. In 2063, the Night City Council decided to initiate an extermination process against birds because of too many zoonotic disease outbreaks.

This small piece of information makes the appearance of this swallow significant; it's just another way that the Star ending is hopeful, but the swallow could also be a reference to The Witcher's Ciri. The princess is often referred to as a "swallow" in the franchise, including her own name. The name 'Cirilla' derives from the elder speech word 'Zireael,' which Ciri is sometimes called by older beings. In Elvish-English, 'Zireael' translates to 'swallow,' which inspired another alias for Ciri.

It might be worth noting that birds can be heard inside Night City's Center for Behavioral Health, a building in City Center that has many large and real trees inside. Some fans theorize this building is a piece of unfinished architecture that was the result of content cut from Cyberpunk 2077. Birds can be heard chirping inside the building, however, no birds can be actually seen, so it could be just a part of the lobby's ambiance.

Ciri certainly isn't the only Witcher reference in Cyberpunk 2077. There are some Roach Easter eggs, including an arcade game named 'Roach Race' that allows the player to control a horse and jump over obstacles.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and is currently in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
