A Cyberpunk 2077 glitch causes the character Dum Dum to follow the player around wherever they go. It isn't a complete nuisance, though, as Dum Dum does help the player out whenever they get into fights, and he keeps them company whenever they're riding around in vehicles. However, he does get in the way of any Cyberpunk 2077 cutscenes while the glitch is active, so players trying to pay attention to the story might find that troublesome.

Dum Dum is a character that appears in Cyberpunk 2077's "The Pickup," which is an early quest that sees V and Jackie obtain a Flathead to use in the following "The Heist'' story mission. Dum Dum is the dealer selling the Flathead to V and Jackie, and during the mission, the duo can choose to either kill him or help against a group called the Miletich. If the player decides to keep Dum Dum alive, there's a strong chance that he'll just decide to follow them around when all is said and done.

A Redditor going by the tag Furtiveraccoon discovered this glitch for themselves during their playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077. He got through the talks with Dum Dum over the Flathead without any friction and then opted to assist Dum Dum and Maelstrom — Dum Dum's crew — with fighting off Miletich when they arrived. Afterward, Dum Dum just decided to follow Furtive, who then uploaded a video of some of the shenanigans to Reddit.

As mentioned, Dum Dum can get in the way of cutscenes, and Furtive's video shows him standing awkwardly in the middle of one that sets off Cyberpunk 2077's story. Furtive finds it humorous enough because it is, for all intents and purposes, pretty hilarious. But those trying to pay attention to what's going on may find the glitch distracting if they happen to get the bug themselves. However, Furtive claims that Dum Dum did disappear after an elevator ride in this mission, so he shouldn't follow players around forever.

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red stated it's working on fixing the game's many glitches now, so it may remove the Dum Dum glitch soon. For those that like the experience of Dum Dum following them around, they may be able to replicate it when Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer launches. It may not provide the same absent-minded charm that Dum Dum currently does, but the concept of players having someone to keep them company and help out with fights and missions will still be there.

Cyberpunk 2077 is on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions arrive in 2021.
