A dataminer found breadcrumbs of Cyberpunk 2077's upcoming DLC inside the 1.2 patch, revealing several quest descriptions relating to "Episode 1" of content inaccessible to the vanilla game.

Developer CD Projekt Red recently released Version 1.2 of Cyberpunk 2077, a massive patch with a ton of bug fixes, but also aims to resolve some rendering and performance issues on PS4 and Xbox One copies of the game. It was so large that the hundreds of lines of patch notes were turned into Star Wars opening text crawl. But despite this, many users are still reporting performance issues and bugs, and even some glitches that are coming as a result of 1.2. But somewhere within this large update, players are finding files in the game that weren't alluded to in the lengthy patch notes.

Some such files are from a member of the modding community going by the username romulus_is_here, or Romulus, who does datamining as a hobby, according to an interview with Eurogamer. Romulus explained that prior to Cyberpunk 2077's 1.2 patch, search hits for "ep1" went from just 5 up to 220 after the 1.2 patch. This keyphrase is believed to signify story-based DLC for Cyberpunk, as noted by the quest descriptions within the files as well as the way they differ from the way Prologue, Epilogue, and quests in between are noted in the game files.

These DLC quests are seemingly "street stories," according to Romulus, that are currently unplayable in the current version of Cyberpunk 2077. While some quests have placeholder text, others come with full descriptions, such as one that focuses on a new character named Anthony Anderson. This quest will feature a new location called Newcomers Haven, an unfinished church "repurposed as a shelter" possibly located in Pacifica. The fixer assigning the quest is Mr. Hands, a mysterious figure thought to return via Cyberpunk 2077 DLC.

Other quest descriptions shown in the datamine detail objectives and emails, which mention a quest titled "Wagner" as well as a group known as Kurtz Militia. One possible Cyberpunk 2077 quest features a bomb in a swimming pool, the leak shows, and another objective requires the player to find a hidden den of netrunners.

According to Romulus, there's a significant amount of data that suggests content relating to existing storylines, but Eurogamer doesn't detail what that specifically means. A big question that these leaks may answer is what happens to V in these DLCs, or what the canon ending to Cyberpunk 2077 is meant to be. But for now, Eurogamer and Romulus are keeping the leak report spoiler-free.

It's also unclear if or when these "ep1" files will be made playable, or if they'll be blocked by a paywall before they're accessible.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
