It has been five long years since the debut trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 was released. Although developer CD Projekt RED has revealed several tidbits about the game since, the studio hasn't released a trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi RPG since 2013. But could the developer be about to re-reveal the game in a major way?

It has now been confirmed that CD Projekt RED will be attending E3 2018 in June. Tickets for E3 2018 are now available and the organizers behind the event have also released a list of "participating companies" which includes the Cyberpunk 2077 developer. The annual industry event, which fans and media watch closely each year, is where gameplay and information of the world's biggest games is shown off.

The E3 2018 list does not explicitly state that CD Projekt RED is going to announce something major or have anything to show at all. However, the confirmation that the developer will be at the annual industry bash lines up with previous rumors about its plans to promote the game. Earlier this year, sources claimed that a new trailer would be shown at E3 2018 and that journalists would also get a chance to see the game in action, with gameplay being shown in a behind-closed-doors event.

Additionally, CD Projekt RED itself has teased some sort of Cyberpunk 2077 announcement via social media. The game's official Twitter recently updated after years of lying dormant. Naturally, fans of the developer (which also created The Witcher series of games) were giddy about the update and began to speculate that an announcement would be made soon. After all, it made little sense for CD Projekt RED to get people talking about a Twitter account that it had no plans to use in the immediate future.

If CD Projekt RED is indeed going to re-reveal Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2018 then it's unclear what this reveal trailer might include. According to leaks, Cyberpunk 2077 will have several multiplayer features and fans are incredibly curious about how these might work (and how they will be monetized).

Moreover, CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the game's world is much larger than that of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. E3 2018 attendees and viewers at home may well be impressed by the sheer scale and vision of Cyberpunk 2077's world. Whatever the developer chooses to show off, fans are sure to feel excited about it. They've waited over five years to see the game again so even the smallest glimpse will be welcomed.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development. A release date and platforms have not been announced.
