Cyberpunk 2077 fans send developer CD Projekt RED a huge number of heartwarming messages and memes after the big delay announcement. The developer confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077 release date is now in September, which is a five-month delay.

The response to CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2077 delay announcement tweet could put some smiles on faces. Many fans are disappointed by the news that they will have to wait to play the game, but fans want the development team to take its time. Twitter user MatchaLottie posted a reminder to fans upset by the delay news, sharing an image of a Shigeru Miyamoto quote that said "a delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." Caio Santos also posted a quote, sharing a Mean Girls GIF that told CD Projekt RED "don't let the haters stop you from doing your thang." A tweet from littlesiha that just said "take your time ily" also got 345 likes.

CD Projekt RED also found support from some popular streamers. Twitch streamer Anne Munition wished the Cyberpunk 2077 development team "godspeed" with a GIF of her saluting the camera and King Gothalion, who has moved to Mixer from Twitch, told the developer to "take your time."

King Gothalion also defended CD Projekt RED from someone who suggested that the developer only delayed the game to release it on PS5 and Xbox Series X. There have been several rumors that Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on the new consoles because it's releasing the same year as the next-gen. The game would look good on the new consoles but King Gothalion called it a "bad take" to suggest that's why CD Projekt RED delayed the game. The company develops for PC first and the new consoles likely won't launch until October at the earliest.

CD Projekt RED will likely be very happy with all of the positive messages that these fans have sent in. However, the developer may find it difficult not to use crunch development practices as it tries to get the game ready for its new release date. Many fans would be okay with another delay if it means that developers are able to finish making it in a healthy way, but it's unclear if CD Projekt RED will do this.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on September 17, 2020 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
