Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red and Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team publisher Dark Horse Comics announced they have another comic series in the works, called Cyberpunk 2077: You Have my Word. It will be the second comic the duo have worked on together. CD Projekt Red narrative designer and writer Bartosz Sztybor will pen the story, Jesus Hervas will draw the pages, and Giulia Brusco will color them.

Dark Horse expects to publish the first issue of the comic on April 28, and in preparation for that it released a preview of five pages with IGN. The premise of You Have my Word sees the Valentinos gang employing three cyberpunks to terminate an urban development project executed by the city council, one that will encroach on Valentinos territory. The three cyberpunks take the job, but soon find out their target isn't an ordinary one.

The first three pages Dark Horse provided IGN revolve around the three main cyberpunks' first meeting with their handler from the Valentinos gang. The last two pages in the set instead show off an adjacent story within the comic that centers on an old waitress in a stranded dinner who, while dealing with rowdy customers, receives news that a coworker of hers has killed herself.

Like Trauma Team before it, You Have My Word is a Cyberpunk 2077 spin-off story, and therefore has no connection with the game's main storyline. That said, Trauma Team built upon the lore of Cyberpunk's Trauma Team International, a company that uses any means necessary to provide their highest paying clients with top-notch medical care and transportation. You Have My Word will do the same, only its focus will likely be on expanding the relationship between the underworld and city council.

Trauma Team established Cyberpunk 2077 as a video game franchise with a great comic book series, so You Have My Word should be something to look forward to. It might not be a part of the main game at the moment, but there's no reason to think that CD Projekt Red won't adapt its characters and plots into Cyberpunk 2077 in the future. The developer promised to bring more quests into the game through DLC, so it's possible, and that would certainly give fans a reason to pick the comic up.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming 2021.
