The action RPG genre has seen a few fantastic gems in the past decade. Games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Dark Souls, The Witcherand many more have received critical acclaim from fans and reviewers alike. Cyberpunk 2077 is being considered as a cult-classic before its official release, and for good reasons.

The game is from the developer behind The Witcher Series, CD Projekt Red, and most RPG fans can not wait for it to come out, as it oozes of immersion and innovation. The game will release in November 2020, but there are a few reasons why it should probably be delayed for the Next-Gen.

10 Next-Gen: More Time More Content

Similar to how Grand Theft Auto V was released, Cyberpunk 2077 is opting for a cross-generational release approach. What that means is, the game will first come out on the current-gen consoles like the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, and then later will be released on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X. This is good from a marketing perspective.

Still, as a consumer, it means playing the inferior version of the game on a weaker system or waiting an entire year to play the best version of the game. Even if cross-generation, it would be better to let the game cook and build more content and release it on all the consoles together.

9 Now: Lack Of RPGs

Here's one big reason why gamers need to have Cyberpunk 2077 on the market as soon as possible. There has been a drought of new RPG games in 2020, and people are craving for something that can fulfill that gap. Cyberpunk 2077 is that game.

It is packed with new content, it is innovative, and it aims to give a custom role-play experience to the players. That is why it should be in the hands of consumers the moment it is ready to ship.

8 Next-Gen: Highly Polished

Another reason why it should be delayed for the next-generation consoles is the overall polish of the game. By no means does the game look broken in the trailers or gameplay previews. But everyone knows how hard it is to build an RPG this open and keep everything glitch-free.

Which is why giving it more time means fixing more gaps that the game might have. Releasing a closed beta to understand the issues would be an approach to fix everything in advance and give the players an authentic next-gen RPG experience.

7 Now: Best Send-Off To The Current-Gen Consoles

Every time a console generation comes to an end, there are titles that people never forget. During the Playstation 2 era, it was Resident Evil 4. During the PS3/360 period, it was Grand Theft Auto V, and during the PS4/Xbox One era, it is going to be Cyberpunk 2077.

The game is available on most major consoles, making it the perfect send off to a generation full of amazing games and adventures. That is why it should be released on time on current-gen consoles.

6 Next-Gen: 2020 Is Not The Year

2020 has not been the year everybody expected. Almost all aspects of daily life have changed due to unforeseen events. The pandemic has changed the way people are working, which has caused even more significant problems for private businesses.

Other than that, every news piece that came out of 2020 has been bad or worse. Knowing this, would it be safe to release the game in 2020? Maybe Cyberpunk 2077 should be delayed until 2021, just to keep it away from this year.

5 Now: More Significant Opportunities

CD Projekt Red has been working on Cyberpunk 2077 since the beginning of current-gen. It has been close to seven years since the first trailer was dropped, and the game is now almost ready to be launched. It's time that the developers get paid for their hard work, and delaying the game doesn't really help.

CD Projekt Red deserves a payoff for their most ambitious project, so they can move on to even bigger projects and capitalize on opportunities. And that can only happen if Cyberpunk 2077 is released on time.

4 Next-Gen: Less Technical Sacrifices

Cyberpunk 2077, without a doubt, will work very well on the current-gen consoles, but will it be as good as the version on Playstation 5 or Xbox Series X? Not even close, mostly because of the sheer horsepower gap between both generations.

Technology is still evolving, and it will keep on growing. But an older version will always mean more technical sacrifices, and a newer one would always mean additional features, which is why the game needs to be experienced on the most up-to-date hardware.

3 Now: The World Needs A Genre Defining RPG

There hasn't been an actual RPG game in quite some time. Most of the games released in current-gen are an amalgamation of other genres and don't quite fit the bill. People who are fans of real RPGs will agree that the genre needs a game that genuinely focuses on role-playing elements.

Cyberpunk 2077 is just that game. Due to that, it should be released without delay, as fans have been craving for such experience for a long time, and this game is just that: a genre-defining RPG.

2 Next-Gen: Better Optimization & Seamless Load Times

Here is probably the biggest reason this game needs to be delayed for next-gen. Those load times. Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world RPG that can utilize the power of SSD and additional GPU to build a completely seamless world without any deductions.

What this means is that the overall experience of Cyberpunk 2077 can change if it is delayed. Doing this will surely boost the sales of next-gen consoles as well. However, a lot of players will feel left out, which brings it back to the first point.

1 Now: Developed For Current-Gen

Cyberpunk 2077 has been in the development phase since 2013. This means the core of this game is built on an engine that is made for the current-gen consoles. This is the biggest reason why the game should launch in 2020 without any delay. All additions and subtractions that were made while building this game are already over.

The game is ready and prepped for the current-gen consoles. This means not many gameplay oriented changes will be in the next-gen version. So delaying it wouldn't possibly alter the experience too much. That is unless the developers go out of their way to build something new in the same game for next-gen.
