Following Cyberpunk 2077's reveal of its gameplay demo, many fans began to wonder whether or not the forthcoming first-person RPG from CD Projekt Red was being optimized for next-gen tech or for the current set of platforms. According to the company's lead cinematic animator Maciej Pietras, the studio is working on developing the forthcoming game for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

As explained by Pietras, Cyberpunk 2077 shouldn't suffer from hardware limitations on the aforementioned platforms, as CD Projekt Red had apparently been aiming at putting the game out during this generation from the very beginning. The lead cinematic animator explained, "Actually from the top we knew we were developing the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. And we started the process of optimization right at the start."

The fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is being developed for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One likely won't come as much of a surprise to those who have been following the long-awaited game's incredibly lengthy development process. As it so happens, CD Projekt Red revealed several months ago that it was aiming for a current-gen release date. At that point in time, though, the developer didn't want to confirm as much since a number of unforeseen issues could have occurred to derail that plan.

Taking all of this into account, it sounds as if Cyberpunk 2077's development process is thrumming right along. In fact, the game's launch may be sooner than most think, as its Turkish publisher inadvertently leaked a date not too long ago pointing to a 2019 release. That said, though, with the title having just recently reached its Alpha phase, such a turnaround would be incredibly quick. So, we will simply have to wait and see how the future shakes out for CD Projekt Red's upcoming action-RPG.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but currently lacks a release date.
