One of the most anticipated releases of this year, Cyberpunk 2077 is the tale of a futuristic Night City from the perspective of a mercenary known simply as V. As you navigate the city and perform quests while leveling up your character's abilities and shaping them into the ideal cyberpunk city dweller, you'll uncover the truth about yourself and the man who lives inside your head.

While we've seen a ton of gameplay over the past few years which showcases the exciting features we can expect, there are also a few features which haven't yet been confirmed but are likely to come eventually. Without further ado, here are five confirmed features for the game, and five which will most likely follow, at least after its initial release.

10 Confirmed: Six Areas

Cyberpunk 2077 has been confirmed to be an open-world experience with tons of unique characters and things to see. While Night City is heavily inspired by sights and sounds of California, you'll find six different areas within the game. Within the city itself, there's a corporate-owned City Center and immigrant quarters known as Watson.

There's also an upscale area called Westbrook, a suburban area known as Heywood, a gang-run area called Pacifica and an industrial area called Santo Domingo. Outside of the city you'll find the Badlands, the final area which has been confirmed for the game, so we'll definitely see all social classes and sides of a cyberpunk world.

9 Likely: DLCs With New Areas

Even if the base game itself comes with six massive areas, and this is from the makers of The Witcher series, which has been known to have massive maps and immersive open-worlds, we're most likely going to see an expansion of the map through various DLCs that will come after the initial release.

There's tons of different options we could imagine, such as nearby cities we can travel to through a loading screen, smaller new areas within the six regions of the city we already know and perhaps even more. Sky's the limit when it comes to what the developers could do with Cyberpunk 2077.

8 Confirmed: Buying Apartments

Cyberpunk 2077 V Apartment

In one of the gameplay demos that we've seen, we got a pretty good glimpse at what V's apartment will look like at the beginning of the game. This is a place where you'll come and rest, store your items and change any gear if needed. There's most likely other activities to do around the apartment that will be unveiled as the game comes out.

The developers have confirmed that V will be able to buy multiple different apartments. For instance, we can imagine V could own a house in all of the six different areas of Night City, which would make for a nice progression from our rundown one-room apartment to a nice futuristic penthouse in Westbrook for instance.

7 Likely: Marriage & Partnership

Cyberpunk 2077 isn't exactly your loveliest kind of universe. Marriage and weddings definitely aren't the first thing to come into mind, but we suspect there will still be some type of mechanism to lock yourself a handsome or beautiful sidekick, one way or another.

You might have the option to go steady with someone or just stay friends with benefits. In a world as brutal as the one seen in the game, however, it's unlikely the first thing in people's minds are family building and settling down. But you never know.

6 Confirmed: Upgrade Weapons & Cyberware

Since it's the era of cyberpunk, it shouldn't come as a surprise that we'll see a lot of cyberware, cool weapons and gear and other details that will make the game's missions more fun and interesting to play through, depending on your build choices.

Once you pick your path, you'll be able to visit gunsmiths and ripper docs to upgrade your cyberware, as well as your weapons and other gear. So far, we've seen only a glimpse of what the ripper doc is capable of, but we're pretty sure there's a ton of customization on the horizon to make V just the way you want them.

5 Likely: VR Mode

Like any big game these days, virtual reality is definitely not going to be out of the question. If you think of just how immersive and beautiful the world of the game looks like, it's no wonder people would want to experience that from a first-hand perspective.

It's very likely Cyberpunk 2077 will be available for VR on both PC and console, for everyone to enjoy Night City and their violent adventures from a close-up perspective. Another reason why the developers most likely chose to turn the game into first-person perspective.

4 Confirmed: Three Character Classes

As mentioned, the customization in the game is definitely going to be top-notch. Cyberpunk 2077 introduces roughly three different character classes, and from what we know, you can pretty much make any mix of the three into your ideal V or just specialize fully into one of them.

You can choose between Netrunner, a sort of hacker that can tap into security systems and perform devastating hacks that can disarm weapons, Techie, which specializes in machinery, including, we assume, turrets and the like, as well as Solo, the classic FPS shooting god that just prefers to go in guns blazing.

3 Likely: Modding Workshop Tool

Like any big game that lets you customize and change your character depending on your choices, there's bound to be some additional content on the horizon. From DLCs to actually modded content, it's possible we might see some type of workshop tool for modders or cosmetics creation if the game takes off.

Alternatively, we're certain a ton of mods will see the light of day on Nexus Mods and other platforms, including Steam, which will spice up your game and in the worst case scenario break it with random, strange events. The modding community never disappoints!

2 Confirmed: Three Life Stories

Unlike The Witcher, which is based on a book series with a set story, Cyberpunk 2077 is entirely about customization and creating the V that you most relate to. This goes as far as deciding the kind of background you'd like your character have, which will influence some dialogue options in the long run and how other characters react to them.

You can choose between Corporate, Street Kid and Nomad. While we have no further information on what these mean, we can probably assume each of these classes also represent NPCs within the game, and that interacting with a character that has the same background as your V will allow for smoother dialogue.

1 Likely: Criminal Consequences

Night City may be riddled with crime, but that doesn't mean our actions don't have consequences. Like in many open-world games, it's important to showcase to the player that our choices truly affect reality around us and send ripples into the society we inhabit.

One of such consequences might be law enforcement. Doing certain quests or actions might gain you the wrong type of attention, depending also on where you are in Night City. We can't imagine getting away with robbery or murder in Heywood or Westbrook, for instance, so hopefully there are consequences depending on time and location as well.
