During the Chippin' In side quest, without any context, the player will need to choose between two tattoos: a billy-goat, or another mysterious one. Here's how each option will affect a person's playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077.

Completing Chippin' In is important to maximizing V's relationship with Johnny, and therefore is important to obtaining the secret ending of Cyberpunk 2077. During Chippin' In, players will also get access to multiple Johnny Silverhand items, such as his Porsche. The mission starts as Johnny takes over V's body to speak to Rogue, but goes off the rails when he decides to get them a tattoo in a haze of chaotic partying.

While being controlled by Johnny Silverhand, V will be lying in Cassius Ryder's ripperdoc chair. Earlier on, V met with Cassius to get a free piece of cyberware as a reward for rescuing Sandra Dorsett, but Johnny seems to have a former relationship with the doc. Without any other context, the game will quickly cut to Cassius asking Johnny if he wants the "Billy-goat or the other one."

The player won't get any explanation or example before they have to choose, but after receiving a tattoo, the "other one" will be listed as "Together Forever," and shows a heart with "Johnny + V" inside of it. The billy-goat, on the other hand, is listed as "Johnny's Special," and is actually Baphomet's head.

Interestingly, these tattoos will function as a form of cyberware and each take up a slot on V's hands. However, they are both offer no buffs the way that proper cyberware does. Some other pieces of cyberware in Cyberpunk 2077 are listed as tattoos and do offer abilities, however, such as the Tyger Claws dermal imprint that allows V to use smart-targeting and links their optical implants to the weapons system. There's no difference between the two other than the designs, which can sometimes be seen when using a weapon.

It's interesting that neither Johnny's billy-goat tattoo nor the Johnny + V heart give V any additional perks, nor does it seem to increase V's affinity level with Johnny, so players should replace them with something more useful. However, this isn't the first time players have potentially been disappointed by tattoos in Cyberpunk 2077.

During the E3 2018 demo of Cyberpunk 2077, footage showed extensive options for tattoo designs, sizes, colors, and placement. However, the final game doesn't boast more than a handful of designs that each take up entire body parts.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
