Beyond the shadow of a doubt, many gamers will agree that CD Projekt Red's forthcoming action-RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is one of E3 2018's most highly anticipated games, with many fans simply wanting to get a look at how far along the project has progressed. Now, ahead of this year's big event, the video game developer has officially filed a trademark for the property through the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

As seen in the document below, CD Projekt Red's trademark of Cyberpunk 2077 will allow the developer graphic representation of the product, as well as a slew of other uses in virtually every domain or conceivable fashion possible. In addition to the game itself, the studio will be able to retain the rights to use the property for merchandise, as well as potential "amusement and theme park services" should the company ever want to pursue recreating the dystopian tech world as a ride or attraction.

What's more is that the language written within CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 trademark filling with EUIPO mentions that the developer with obtain rights to use the brand for "virtual reality game software". While a VR version of the game has yet to be officially confirmed, there was a recent rumor floating around online that the action-RPG potentially has a first-person perspective, which would lend itself well to a possible VR iteration.

Taking all of this into account, with CD Projekt Red having filed its trademark application just ahead of E3 2018, there's a decent chance that the company might actually show off some of Cyberpunk 2077 's assets to the public in some way. Then again, one rumor has suggested that while the action-RPG will be at this year's big industry event with an hour-long demo, CD Projekt Red will only be displaying it behind closed doors. So, one can only hope that fans finally get a closer look at the game this month.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for unspecified platforms.
