Not content with the sparse interior of Cyberpunk 2077’s Afterlife nightclub, a fan of the divisive RPG has released a mod that gives the gritty watering hole a facelift while also adding in new functionality. Developer CD Projekt Red recently settled a $1.85 million lawsuit filed by Cyberpunk 2077 investors following the game’s disastrous launch, which saw the game arrive in a thoroughly broken state for many players.

Originally announced with the first Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer back in January 2013, CD Projekt Red’s futuristic RPG was expected by many to be a massive leap forward for the genre following the critical and commercial success of the developer’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Set in the universe of the cult classic Cyberpunk tabletop RPG, Cyberpunk 2077 lets players explore the dystopian, corporate-controlled metropolis of Night City as they work with the digital ghost of rock star and revolutionary Johnny Silverhand, played by Keanu Reeves. Despite nearly a decade in development and some serious star power, numerous technical issues that left the game literally unplayable for some users led to Cyberpunk 2077 receiving a lukewarm response from many gamers and critics.

Just as CD Projekt Red has released numerous tweaks and improvements to the game following its launch, creative players have produced mods for Cyberpunk 2077 that have added new characters, abilities, and functionality to the game. In a move sure to be welcomed by players who found the game’s dark and dingy Afterlife nightclub to be a bit too sparse, the Enhanced Afterlife mod for Cyberpunk 2077 posted to Nexus Mods by user Pringles001 adds new props, a new layout, and new functionality to the neon-lit locale. Well-known to many players for featuring in several of the game’s story missions, Afterlife’s updated appearance gives it a more lifelike and lived-in look.

To make Afterlife both more visually appealing and functional for Cyberpunk 2077 players, the Enhanced Afterlife mod makes several changes to the digital nightclub. The first revision to the gritty gathering spot is the addition of numerous items and other visual enhancements to Rogue’s corner, with newly-added plants and props giving the area some visual flair. The mod also makes it easier for players to grab grub and guns on the go, adding working vending machines for snacks and a fully functional armory, though the armory requires the installation of additional mods in order to work.

While Cyberpunk 2077 may have missed the mark with its initial release, a series of patches from CD Projekt Red and a steady stream of user-made mods are slowly helping to change gamers’ perceptions of the troubled title. And for gamers who can’t get enough of Cyberpunk 2077’s gorgeous graphics, the revamped visuals of Afterlife Enhanced may make this mod a must-have.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
