When Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed the Cybertruck, the internet reacted in several different ways. Some loved it, while others hated it. Some created hilarious Cybertruck memes, and others seized the opportunity to compare the Cybertruck to Cyberpunk aesthetics. However, this wasn't just a simple vanity comparison, as even Cyberpunk 2077's official Twitter page got in on the fun.

In response to an Elon Musk tweet about said vehicle, Cyberpunk 2077 replied stating that the two had a deal, to which Elon Musk reponded that he would "see [them] in 2077." There's some clear implications here, with many fans unsure of how to react. Accepting it at face value could simply mean that Cyberpunk 2077 decided to poke some fun at Elon Musk's Cybertruck, not unlike Warframe, and he jokingly fired back. On the other hand, it could be a serious teases that there was some type of deal where Musk's Cybertruck would appear in-game.

Before moving forward, it's worth mentioning that this is not something that's actually impossible. First, Elon Musk has a gaming background, having been upfront about his experience with it in the past. Secondly, there's a Borderlands 3 Flamethrower inspired by Musk, and finally, putting the Cybertruck in Cyberpunk 2077 simply sounds like something Musk and CD Projekt Red would cook up.

If this is the case, it's a nice crossover promotion of both Cyberpunk 2077 and Tesla's Cybertruck, especially given how fitting it is. Vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077 can be called to the player, in a manner similar to Roach in the Witcher franchise, to give off a futuristic vibe. This is not altogether too unfamiliar with the Cybertruck, which while a competitively priced pick up truck, also has a "self-driving option."

Considering that Cyberpunk 2077 is not set to release until April 16, 2020, there may not be confirmation on this for some time. As it stands, it could be a joke or it could be a serious tease; CD Projekt Red would seemingly say something official about this before release, meaning that something could come sooner than expected. Either way, Cyberpunk 2077 is entering the final stages of development, so those excited for it may learn something new about the game in the coming months.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on April 16, 2020.
