CD Projekt Red has begun rolling out official post-launch support for Cyberpunk 2077. Patch 1.2 landed on March 29 and was host to dozens of changes, optimizations, and bug fixes across all of Cyberpunk 2077's platforms. But the 1.2 patch for Cyberpunk 2077 was only ever supposed to be a first step forward for CD Projekt Red to start building some momentum. As evidence of that, CD Projekt Red has now released a follow-up patch, hotfix 1.21, which itself corrects dozens more Cyberpunk 2077 issues.

According to CD Projekt Red's brief description of the 1.21 hotfix, the focus of the update is two-fold. First, it's aiming to further improve Cyberpunk 2077's stability, correcting errors that could cause technical issues or disrupt gameplay in one way or another. Second, it's intended to solve several key problems that could prevent players from progressing in Cyberpunk 2077, whether via story and mission progression or through gameplay progression.

For example, only two significant fixes have been made to Cyberpunk 2077's gameplay. One fixes a notorious issue where a player can commit a crime on a rooftop, leading to NCPD officers respawning behind the player regardless of whether the roof was accessible. The second change fixes a gameplay bug that would prevent players from climbing ladders if they were swimming.

The vast majority of changes in hotfix 1.21, however, focus on quests and open-world progression. There are dozens of fixes here. For example, the quest Down on the Street had bugs where the player wouldn't be able to access weapons, where an NPC would appear in an odd place, and where an NPC would crash into a parked car and ruin the mission. Another example is the quest Big in Japan, where windows would randomly break, a car couldn't be entered from one side, and the player could just leave at a key part of the mission and not fail. All of these bugs, and so many more, have been fixed.

A hodgepodge of other corrections has also gone through. For example, certain NPC clothing will no longer clip, the user interface for scanning has been improved, and memory management overall has been optimized and should cause fewer crashes. Suffice to say, CD Projekt Red is rolling out fixes as they're ready for release. But it's a very long list of bugs and errors to fix.

At this current cadence, it may be some time before the ideal version of Cyberpunk 2077 that fans and CD Projekt Red want comes to any sort of realization. The March 29 1.2 patch was a good first step, and a significant hotfix two weeks later can't be ignored. All fans can do is wait and hope for continued post-launch support.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are also in development.
