Video game developers know that they can appeal to fans by making characters that are also cute animals, so there are plenty of cats in video games. Sometimes they are player characters, NPCs, or function as part of the lore or as companions or pets. 10 Cait Sith, Final Fantasy VII
Cait Sith, who likely takes his name from the god Cat Sith from Celtic mythology, appears as a playable character in Final Fantasy VII. The giant pink monster he rides is known as a moogle and he gives orders to it using a variety of megaphones.
He's a member of the party and a playable character, but despite his playful and friendly demeanor, his motives for joining Cloud on his adventure are initially a mystery. He's appeared in other installments of the franchise and is a favorite among fans.
9 Mischief, The Cutest Cat in Retail Wow
There's a large variety of battle-pets in the modern version of World of Warcraft, and Mischief is one of them. He was available through the Blizzard store as part of a charity fundraiser. Those glowing green eyes are an indication of his origin.
Apparently, he followed the Legion when they returned to Azeroth, which means he is part demon, but even the most adorable kittens can be monstrous little creatures. Players like the idea of a fel-themed pet as well, especially such a cuddly one.

Meowth is one of the antagonists of the Pokemon series, but that's doesn't mean he's isn't also a cute cat. Besides, he's not very good at what he does. Meowth is the unofficial leader of Team Rocket, as he's usually the one who thinks of the plans and bosses his companions around.
Meowth isn't only cute, he's also unique. There's aren't any other Pokemon who can speak with humans in their own language, although there are various forms of communication between pets and their trainers. Meowth's attitude also seems to improve when someone shows him some love, which is true for most of us, including cats.
7 Socrates, Alice's Cat from Odin Sphere
Socrates is Alice's Cat from Odin Sphere, a game that's only available on the Playstation. When choosing what scenario to play at the start of the game, the player controls the character of Alice, and the books she's reading contain the different choices.
She's accompanied by a wide-eyed companion, a black cat named Socrates, and when you play as Alice you can interact with him. The actual identity of Alice as she relates to the overall plot of Odin Sphere isn't officially known, but fans speculate that she could be a descendant of the game's main heroes.
6 Katt Monroe, the Deadly Pilot from Star Fox
Katt Monroe is a character who appears in several installments of the Star Fox franchise. She appears as a pilot which you can play even though she's not an official member of the Star Fox team. She's listed as an ally and frequently fights on their side. She has a past history with fellow Hot Rodder pilot Falco Lombardi, who's close friends with Fox MacCloud, and sometimes she teases Falco by flirting with Fox.
5 Felynes and Palicoes, The Cutest Little Monsters in the World
A Felyne isn't an individual creature but a whole race of adorable feline companions that can be found in the game Monster Hunter. They are highly customizable, including their markings and names, for example, and they're so popular they've become the mascots of the franchise.
Up until recently, Felynes were non-battle companions that did things like cook meals and repair your gear. As a new class called Palincoes, they can wear armor and fight by your side, turning up the cuteness yet another notch on these already loveable characters.
4 Kabegami, The Lost Zodiac Sign
The Cat has an interesting place in Japanese mythology, and the character of Kabegami borrows some of those legends. She's one of the Brush Gods in Okami, a game that was originally developed for the Playstation 2. The player can interact with her once they reach the top of Catcall Tower and give her something to eat. She's more of an ethereal beautiful than cute, with the power to walk and climb in certain areas adorned by her statue.
3 Toro Inoue, AKA The Sony Cat
He's been in video games of a promotional nature and that's close enough. Even if you don't recognize the name, you'll recognize the image of Toro Inoue, the mascot of the Sony Corporation. Toro's design is simple but adorable, deliberately intended to convert well into stuffed animals, clothing, and other merch. He has a black counterpart, Kuro, who doesn't appear quite as often as he does but is just as popular and equally adorable.
2 Yuumi, Keeper of Sentient Books and Eater of Fish
Yuumi is a supporting character from the League of Legends franchise and has an interesting backstory that's just as lovely as she is. Formerly from Bandle City, Yuumi's master was an enchantress named Norra. When she mysteriously disappeared, Yuumi became the guardian of the sentient book collection that Norra left behind.
The loyal feline also dedicated her life to finding her lost master, and that's the extend of her lore when players choose her as a character. Occasionally, she reverts to more catlike activities like napping and eating fish, but she's always on her quest to find Norra.

It's time to get revenge on those pesky humans. This time it's your turn to be the cute one in a unique game called Catlateral Damage, in which the main player is a cat intent on destroying the house as a way to discipline its misbehaving bipeds.
Take on the role of the cat of your choice and enjoy a virtual romp through the house, knocking down, clawing, or otherwise destroying anything in your path. Destroy the toilet paper in the bathroom, wreck the cell phone on the living room coffee table, climb the curtains in the bedroom.
