The PlayStation 5 console's design has turned plenty of heads since it was first revealed, as it doesn't really look like any other past video game consoles. In fact, many people have said the PS5 more closely resembles other household objects and appliances, with various PS5 memes comparing the console's look to fans and dehumidifiers. The PS5's unique design definitely makes it stand out, though, and it has also lent itself well to interesting custom designs that take full advantage of its unique shape.

The PlayStation 5 design has inspired countless custom PS5s, with fans creating mock-up images of what their preferred custom PS5 would look like. Some fans and companies have taken this to the next level, though, creating actual custom PS5s either for themselves or for others to purchase.

Here are the most impressive custom PS5 designs that have hit the internet so far.

God of War PS5

Earlier this summer, a Spanish God of War fan page shared an image of a PS5 inspired by Sony's acclaimed God of War franchise. The image apparently originated from the Graphic.faction Instagram page, showcasing a black PS5 design with the Greek Omega symbol, which doubles as the God of War franchise's logo, on the front. On the side of the console, gamers can also see Kratos' Leviathan Axe, his weapon of choice in the God of War reboot. Kratos' Blades of Chaos are also represented, leaning up against the PS5 console, though it's unclear if they are meant to be part of the hardware itself like a stand or simply bonus accessories.

God of War is one of PlayStation's most recognizable brands, and so it makes sense that it inspired one of the first custom PS5 design mock-ups. 2021 is expected to see the release of a new God of War game for PS5, and perhaps that game will inspire even more custom PS5 designs.

Gold PS5

With scalpers snatching up as many PS5 consoles as they can, the system is currently selling for ridiculous prices online. However, Russian company Caviar has created an even more expensive PS5, and this is one that someone can actually buy. While an exact price hasn't been announced, the materials used to create Caviar's gold PS5, nicknamed Golden Rock by the company, are worth around $1.8 million. Considering this, it's quite likely that the gold PS5 will cost much more than that once it officially becomes available for purchase.

As reported by LetsGoDigital, this gold PS5 features 18-karat gold, and it comes with specially-designed DualSense controllers as well. The Caviar PS5 DualSense controllers feature golden touchpads, along with crocodile leather for the grips. Only one of these insanely expensive PS5 consoles is getting made, so it is sure to be one of the priciest PS5 collector's items ever to be produced once it launches.

PlayStation Characters PS5

The launch of the PlayStation 5 was a celebration of the PlayStation brand in general, with the Astro's Playroom pack-in title paying homage to the brand's history and previous consoles. Twitter user Oksunk's custom PS5 is similarly an homage to PlayStation's past, with their custom PS5 featuring artwork based on some of the PlayStation brand's biggest franchises. This includes art based on God of WarDays GoneThe Last of Us 2, and Spider-Man, with the PlayStation symbols drawn using the titles of other PlayStation games. Okskunk's custom PS5 also includes the PlayStation symbols drawn on the DualSense controller as well.

PS2 PS5

A group called SUP3R5 has announced a way it will be celebrating the PS5, and that is by selling custom PlayStation 5 consoles that are designed to pay homage to the PS2. And better yet, those that want a PS2-themed PS5 actually have a chance to purchase one, with pre-orders going live on January 8 for both the disc-based and digital versions.

This custom PS5 design features colored face buttons on the DualSense controller to match those on the DualShock 2, as well as a black color scheme to match the console as well. The PlayStation logo on both the DualSense controller and the PS5 console has been changed to the classic color scheme, with a purple icon on the side. Prices start at $649 for the console, with the controller going for $99.99. Production will be limited and only a few hundred units of each product is being produced, so anyone interested should be sure to jump on the opportunity while they still can.

Spider-Man PS5

One of the most significant PS5 launch titles is undoubtedly Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The follow-up to Insomniac's acclaimed PS4 Spider-Man game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a short but sweet adventure that makes good use of the DualSense controller's unique features, as well as things like ray-tracing and other next-gen benefits. Paying homage to Spider-Man: Miles Morales, digital artist Giuseppe Spinelli has created an incredible custom PS5 design based on Morales' iconic suit, along with DualSense controllers that have "Be yourself" written on the touchpad in graffiti.
