The long-anticipated The Cuphead Show! has finally got a sneak peek from Netflix. In the clip, fans can see the infamous King Dice, who's often dubbed "the devil's right-hand man," so expect to see him do things that back up his reputation.

Cuphead is a run and gun 2d side-scrolling video game that is similar to the classic Mega Man video games. Players must strafe through a 2d plane while connecting their shots on enemies, bosses, and other items that are a part of the game world. The game is known for its easy to pick up but very difficult to master gameplay, which is where the Mega Man comparisons come from.

The game also has a two-player co-op which has the second player playing as Cuphead's brother Mugman, who is very similar in design but with a blue stripe serving as his unique distinction from his sibling. The Cuphead Show! will be a character-driven comedy following brothers Cuphead and Mugman. In the clip, viewers don't get to see this aspect of the character's story but they do see an antagonist interact with an unfortunate audience member, teasing what's to come. Voiced by Wayne Brady, the antagonistic King Dice appears to be in the vein of classic animated characters from the Golden Age of Animation, showing that The Cuphead Show! will follow the video game's tradition of paying homage to that era of cartoons.

The story of the game follows the brothers trying to fight for their souls under a strict time limit after gambling with the devil (against their elder's wishes). Expect The Cuphead Show! to feature many misadventures in a similar vein to the video game's story, which will make for a very compelling series. The brothers' ability to shoot only came after their gamble with the true evil, so there's no telling if this show will give the siblings the same power or if they will be bestowed with capabilities not seen in the games.

Cuphead was a very popular game that initially released in 2017 and ended up selling over three million copies. It was released over multiple consoles and earned critical as well as commercial success. Hopefully, those units translate into viewership for the Netflix show.

In the event that The Cuphead Show! does well, expect to see more video game spinoffs come to streaming platforms. The Witcher did well, considering it attracted new fans as well as fans of both the video game and the books. Many are patiently waiting for the long history of trash video game adaptions to come to an end.

The Cuphead Show! will be available in 2021 on Netflix.
