It's been three years since the unique platformer Cuphead was first announced. And after a series of delays, Cuphead has finally been given a solid release date. Beginning September 29th, fans of classic 2D platformers can snag Cuphead on PC and Xbox One.

Cuphead's release date was accompanied by a brief trailer that gave fans another look at the gameplay. As those that have been following the game for years should know, Cuphead is a 2D platformer with a unique art style reminiscent of 1930s cartoons. One of the main hooks of the game is its challenging and creative boss battles, which should be complemented well by its other popular features, such as full-on side-scrolling levels and co-op.

The trailer also reiterates Cuphead's status as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning players can purchase it once and play it on either Xbox One or PC. Considering Cuphead's close association with Microsoft and the Xbox brand, one would imagine that the game will enjoy some Xbox One X-powered enhancements, but nothing specific was announced during Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference.

While fans may have to wait on news about possible Xbox One X enhancements, at least Cuphead finally has a release date. However, it's still possible that the game will end up delayed yet again, as it has been delayed numerous times in the past. Having said that, it's hard to imagine what else the developers could add to it at this point, as it sounds about as fully-featured as a 2D platformer could hope to be.

Fans have been waiting years to get their hands on Cuphead, so here's hoping the game's development continues going well and it avoids another delay. In the meantime, fans should keep their eye on Microsoft's E3 events throughout the week for the chance to see more of the long-awaited title.

Cuphead will be available on September 29th for PC and Xbox One.
