The critically acclaimed Cuphead has been a hit since it first dropped on Windows and Xbox One in 2017. While the game was set to be an exclusive for Microsoft, the game first migrated to MacOS in 2018. It then moved to Nintendo Switch in 2019 where it went on to be one of the most downloaded games on Switch of the year. Now, it appears the game will finally be making its way to PlayStation.

Cuphead immediately captivated audiences with its unique art style, meant to mimic the "rubber hose" style of animation from the 1930s. The aesthetics are so eye-catching that Netflix is bringing a Cuphead TV show to its platform in the near future. All this would be for naught if the gameplay didn't stack up, but Cuphead is a challenging and fun, run and gun game. With such an appealing package, it's no surprise that every console wants to have the game available to their player base.

That appeal is why a tweet from Wario64, a well-known source for breaking news and rumors in the gaming industry, has PlayStation fans of Cuphead excited. The game has appeared on international PSN stores, though a game description or listing doesn't load at this time. The very sight of the game's icon has garnered a fair amount of attention from fans. Not every game gets ported to every console, and fan demand isn't always enough to convince publishers to release a ported version of a title. Fans have been asking for a port of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, but it doesn't seem high on Nintendo's list.

With so little to go on regarding this supposed port to PlayStation, it's hard to say what this version of Cuphead will look like. Some games that are ported become the definitive version of the title, such as the impressive Death Stranding PC port.

Cuphead's trajectory from a little indie for Microsoft to a franchise on multiple consoles with a TV show in the works is great story for indie developers to take inspiration from. Cuphead even appears in Super Smash Bros Ultimate by way of a Mii costume.

Though nothing has been officially confirmed, with Cuphead having been spotted on international PSN stores, it might not be long before Sony gamers finally have a chance to play the charming game.

Cuphead is available now on Mac, PC, Switch, Xbox One, and may be coming soon to PS4.
