From the Crysis franchise to Far Cry, Crytek Studios has dominated the visual graphics department in the video game industry. (We even proclaimed their work on Crysis 2 as the best achievement in technical design of 2011.)
Utilizing their CryEngine 3, Crytek Studios have done it again, revealing a stunning spectacle of a demonstration that unveils the true power of what they can do with next generation visuals. Not only have CryTek unveiled this awesome demo, but it has also come to our attention that they have a big announcement in-store for April.
CryTek has set the bar high with their CryEngine 3, and with their intent to support the Kinect and Wii U, it comes as no surprise that they are focusing on next-gen graphics. With their push to go to the Kinect and Wii U, it wouldn't surprise us if they're aiming their targets on the Xbox 720 and PS4 as well. It has even been rumored that CryTek may be working on Timesplitters 4 for the Xbox 720.
Displayed in the video is a great example of what the CryEngine 3 is capable of with character shading, tessellation, ocean tessellation, advanced particle shading, real time reflections, enhanced lighting effects, and more! Check out the highly impressive CryEngine 3 next-gen visuals demo reel that was presented at GDC last week below:
But these new visuals aren't the only thing buzzing around CryTek Studios. Nick Button-Brown, the general manager of games at CryTek offered up this tasty nugget at GDC about a new game that's in development:
"The best of that kind of project we've ever done. It looks spectacular, the team are doing really, really well and it's just really nice to see the team really enthusiastic about what they're doing. They're really happy. You know about Homefront, you know about Ryse. We are working on another project... [laughs] all three of which are looking really good."
What could we take from this overly enthusiastic tease? We've just been given word about CryTek's free-to-play game, Warfare, but what else can we expect? We'll just have to wait until April to find out.
Homefront 2 and Ryse do not have a scheduled release date currently, but expect us to cover their announcement when it is revealed what's up their sleeves in April.
