Frankfurt-based independent developer Crytek announced its new leadership appointment in a press release on Wednesday after founder Cevat Yerli stepped down. The company now has two joint CEOs, Avni Yerli and Faruk Yerli.

According to the press release, the company's main goal currently is to "focus on enhancing its industry-leading proprietary development platform CRYENGINE, as well as ongoing development and publishing for Hunt: Showdown in the Frankfurt studio and Warface in the Kiev studio."

The studio seems to be in a state of fluctuation at the moment, and not just because of Hunt's release. Thanks to an investment of capital made last fall, Crytek has been able to "fortify" the company and prepare for future growth. Former CEO and President Cevat Yerli included a statement in the press release:

"With the company in a strong position, now is the ideal time to recognize the existing leadership's excellent achievements over these past two years and formally transition executive leadership to Anvi and Faruk. I have been honored to serve as CEO of the company I founded with my brothers almost 20 years ago and have seen the team accomplish breakthrough things in that time.

"I look forward to continue helping Crytek as a major shareholder, and I am very excited to see what tomorrow brings. I have every confidence that the company will continue to shine under the guidance of Anvi, Faruk, and the rest of the leadership team."

Despite Yerli's encouraging words, Crytek has been known to have significant money problems over the last few years. It was so bad in 2014 that the developer was unable to pay its employees. The studio received millions from Amazon in 2015 that potentially saved it from bankruptcy. There was also a round of studio closures in Dec. 2016, leaving remaining studios in the Frankfurt, Germany headquarters as well as Kieve, Ukraine and Istanbul, Turkey.

However, it hasn't all been bad news for Crytek. This leadership change follows last week's successful launch of Crytek's bounty hunting game, Hunt: Showdown. The game is currently in active development on Steam's Early Access platform. Additionally, Crytek launched its own cryptocurrency earlier this year in Turkey, which is used to pay Warface players for meeting certain in-game milestones.

Now, it's up to the Yerli brothers to see to Crytek's success through the active development phase of Hunt: Showdown and beyond.
