PC gamers will likely remember the original Crysis game as being the pinnacle of visual prowess in gaming. It was what people would play when they wanted to push their latest hardware to its very limits, with it stunning visuals and jaw-droppingly realistic explosions, for the time. Outside of hardcore PC fans, many gamers likely forgot this futuristic single-player shooter, however a remaster of the trilogy is due out in a couple of days and with that, an announcement states that it will be receiving the Nvidia treatment so common with modern games.

According to a report from Tom's Hardware, Crysis Remastered Trilogy, along with a host of other games, will be the latest to receive version 2.0 of Nvidia's Deep Learning Super Sampling, or DLSS, upscaling technology. When the original game was released in 2007, it was the very peak of gaming performance in terms of graphics, and while the technology has certainly advanced since then, a remastered version of the games, along with DLSS compatibility could really give it that wow factor when it's released.

For those who are unaware, DLSS is an algorithm designed by Nvidia that is being pushed out on a lot of games, which goes to some lengths to make them look better. It works by redrawing pixels on-screen and upscales the resolution to make the game run at a higher resolution as though it was doing so natively, providing the computer in use uses an RTX graphics card. It has become standard in the industry, with Nvidia making plans to support more games with DLSS.

In the report, it's mentioned that not only will Crysis Remastered be receiving the DLSS update, but some other games as well, including Rise of the Tomb Raider which came out in 2016. Both Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be getting DLSS on October 18, while Crysis, Baldur's Gate 3, and Sword of Legends Online will receive it later on this week. on top of that, Sword and Fairy 7 and Chivalry 2 will be getting it on October 21 and October 26, respectively.

With developer Crytek announcing the Crysis Remastered Trilogy a few months ago, which came with a trailer, it will be good for fans of the original three games to jump back in and see what improvements have been made. The inclusion of DLSS is likely to bring with it a certain visual acuity that modern gaming has grown accustomed to, and will likely do wonders for the graphical power that is the Crysis games.

Crysis Remastered Trilogy releases on October 15, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
