Crysis Remastered promised fans the full experience of the original game with the breathtaking graphics and framerate of modern gaming. While some PC players have been able to take full advantage of this, console players have been left behind due to the game running in backwards compatibility mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Now a new update brings next generation enhancements for both PS5 and Xbox Series X players, allowing them to experience the game yet again in a brand new light.

Alongside increasing the resolution and framerate on next generation consoles, there are some new features coming to Crysis Remastered on consoles as well. Players can now make use of Ascension Levels, a feature that was previously only available to PC players. What's more, they can also opt to use Classic Nanosuit controls.

Surprisingly, there are some notable differences between the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. After downloading the update, next generation players can choose to run Crysis Remastered in either Performance Mode, Quality Mode, or Ray Tracing. As expected, Performance Mode runs at 1080p and 60 FPS on all consoles. Likewise, the Ray Tracing mode runs at 1440p and 60 fps on both Xbox Series X and PS5. The Xbox Series S is only able to manage 1080p and 30 fps, however.

Things get interesting when looking at the Quality Mode. The Xbox Series X runs Crysis Remastered at 4K (2160p) 60 fps on Quality Mode, just like one would expect, and the Xbox Series X lags behind that a bit, running at 4K 30 fps. The PS5, though, runs at 1800p 60 fps, sparking a bit of confusion among Sony fans. The Xbox Series X is the more powerful console, and maybe players will start to see that in the future.

Crysis Remastered is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
