Crysis has been on hiatus for many years, but it may finally be awakening from its slumber. The official Crysis Twitter page just tweeted out for the first time in four years, meaning some fresh news could be approaching and the tweet has immediately blown up.

The tweet very cryptically says "RECEIVING DATA" and nothing else, leaving a lot of room for speculation. Crytek was in quite a lot of financial trouble in the past, perhaps leading to the Crysis series being away from video games for so long. Before the gap, however, the franchise was quickly becoming one of the most technically powerful on the market.

Fans are left guessing as to what could be next for Crysis, at least until the next Tweet or announcement. Although the page finally tweeted out for the first time in four years, the bio still mentions Crysis 3 being available now on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, a game originally available on February 2013 and known for cool tech, fun multiplayer, and having some of the best armor in gaming, the Nanosuit.

In an era of endless remasters, it is possible that Crysis will be receiving the remaster treatment, and that the "data" is a trailer of said remaster that will be made available on current and even next-gen consoles. While that would be exciting for many, others are certainly hoping for a reboot and or continuation of the Crysis series in the form of a brand new game.

Meanwhile, while Crysis didn't make the list of games that deserve Nintendo Switch Ports, a second look at the hybrid console that could, shows that a Crysis remaster would be a perfect fit on the Nintendo Switch, as would future games on the console.

There are a lot of possibilities when it comes to the next Crysis title. A remaster. A reboot. Crysis 4. A Switch port. One commenter even mentioned a multiplayer-only battle royale. For now, as the tweet is hot off the press, fans are stuck wondering what will come of one of the coolest bow-wielders in video games. Hopefully, the wait will not be long, hopefully the wait will not be another four years.
