CrossfireX is now available on Xbox consoles, but the game is running into some troubles early-on. CrossfireX's free-to-play multiplayer has been heavily criticized since the game's launch a couple of days ago, and there are issues relating to its single-player campaign missions as well. Namely, Xbox Game Pass subscribers who should be able to access the CrossfireX campaign mission Operation: Catalyst for free are still unable to do so at the time of this writing.

Any Xbox Game Pass subscribers that try to play the CrossfireX Operation: Catalyst campaign are met with a message that they need to purchase the content to play it. While this should be the case for the Operation: Spectre campaign, which is not planned to be part of Xbox Game Pass, it should not be so with Operation: Catalyst. In fact, Microsoft itself promoted the CrossfireX Operation: Catalyst campaign as being part of the Xbox Game Pass lineup for February 2022.

Microsoft is aware of the difficulties that Xbox Game Pass subscribers have been having when it comes to playing the CrossfireX single-player content, though there is no ETA on when the issues will be resolved. So in the meantime, those that want to play CrossfireX will either need to purchase the campaigns separately or stick with the versus multiplayer options for now.

CrossfireX on Game Pass

The reaction to CrossfireX has been hugely negative so far, but there are Xbox Game Pass subscribers who would still like to check out the single-player offerings. After all, CrossfireX's single-player missions were developed in collaboration with Remedy Entertainment, a studio with a proven track record of delivering high-quality releases. That doesn't mean that CrossfireX will be all that good, but fans of Remedy's work may still be curious to find out for themselves.

While some Xbox Game Pass subscribers may be disappointed that they can't play the CrossfireX single-player campaigns yet, there should still be plenty on the service for them to check out. The same day that CrossfireX was added to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft added four other games in the form of Besiege, Edge of Eternity, Skul: The Hero Slayer, and The Last Kids on Earth. And that's not even counting the well over 100 other games that one can access with their Xbox Game Pass subscription.

Even more will be coming to Xbox Game Pass in the near future as well. Microsoft will likely pull the curtain back on the rest of the new Xbox Game Pass games for February 2022 at some point next week.

CrossfireX is available now for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
