How to Get Hammer Punch

There are several ways for players to get Hammer Punch. Much later on in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, Hammer Punch is a reward for completing Mission 9-3-1 (To The End). Hammer Punch can also be found inside a chest during Mission 3-5-1 (Intercept the Copies). Since both of these Missions require completing a long series of other missions prior to them, it will take some time for players to get Hammer Punch.

Alternatively, Hammer Punch can be stolen from Vajradhara Kinnara. This is an enemy that appears in both Mission 4-4-6 and Mission 9-2-1. Of course, players will want to make sure that they have Steal equipped in order to acquire Hammer Punch by this method.

Finally, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion players can also get Hammer Punch through Materia Fusion. In order to create Hammer Punch, players will need to fuse a mastered Magical Punch and a Libra. This results in creating Hammer Punch, and it doesn't matter if Libra is mastered or not.

What Does Hammer Punch Do?

Hammer Punch is a powerful physical attack. Zack winds up a punch and hits nearby targets with it. The amount of damage that Hammer Punch does scales to how much AP players have when they use Hammer Punch. The closer that players are to maximum AP, the more damage this ability will do. Not only that, but this ability ignores enemy defenses.

Hammer Punch costs 99 AP to use, so players will want to save up some Somas to help keep their AP up and allow Hammer Punch to do as much damage as possible. It is also a good idea for players to have an accessory that allows them to exceed 9,999 damage as this will allow Hammer Punch to be utilized to its full potential. This can be accomplished with the Brutal accessory that can be acquired in Mission 7-4-6.

The main drawback to Hammer Punch, aside from the AP cost, is that it takes a few seconds to wind up the attack. During that time, enemies can easily move out of range or launch an attack that interrupts Hammer Punch. So players will need to plan carefully when they use this powerful Materia.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is available now on PS4, PS5, Steam, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
