Cris Tales is an upcoming turn-based RPG that's heavily inspired by old-school JRPGs like Chrono Trigger. It was initially planned to launch in 2020 but was unfortunately delayed to 2021 with an undisclosed release date. However, thanks to a new Nintendo Indie World presentation from this morning, fans will be happy to know that Cris Tales has finally received a release date.

The release date was unveiled during a new trailer during the Indie World showcase and showed off the game's unique time travel mechanics, combat, and much more.

Cris Tales will launch on July 20 on pretty much every single current gaming platform under the sun. It'll be available on PC, Google Stadia, Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One, and Series X/S. The release date trailer, which can be seen down below, gave viewers a closer look at how players will be interacting with the hand-drawn environments and characters. What makes Cris Tales unique is its time mechanic, which allows players to view an area of the game but from three different perspectives: the past, present, and the future.

The time travel mechanics in Cris Tales also work in combat scenarios. For example, if an enemy is poisoned and is sent to the future during battle, that poison damage will hit the enemy all at once, giving the player a major advantage to whittling the foe's health down. It can also turn enemies into an older version of themselves, making them stronger (or weaker) depending on the enemy type.

If players are interested in Cris Tales and can't wait until its official release date, there's a demo available for download now that gives folks a small taste of what to expect from the full game.

Cris Tales is set to launch on July 20 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
