On rare occasions a video game trailer comes along to showcase what the next generation of video games can truly be; for this new-gen that game may be Crimson Desert. With stunning visuals, awe-inspiring music, and breathtaking gameplay, Crimson Desert's gameplay reveal trailer at The Game Awards may have just stolen the show.

There are some huge announcements and reveals at this year's The Game Awards. As far as a brand new game reveal, Perfect Dark returning from developer The Initiative is a good example of a shocking and exciting announcement. Crimson Desert isn't a brand new game announcement, as it was first revealed in 2019. But this trailer was the first look at gameplay.

The trailer starts off with different looks at landscapes, and it basically looks like real life. There are games that can sometimes be confused with the real-word, as Red Dead Redemption 2 recently was, but this Crimson Desert may be on a whole new level. The shots that show off mountainous ranges, open plains, plateaus, castles and sunsets, and rivers through villages are all breathtaking.

The trailer lasts five minutes, but it takes almost one minute to even see the first human. Even when a person is shown, the gameplay still highlights landscapes over anything else for quite some time. One particular shot of a horseman riding through the, well, crimson desert, is stunning. It had already been revealed that gameplay of Crimson Desert would be shown at The Game Awards, but the quality of the visuals may be enough to very much surprise the gaming community.

When Geoff Kheighly first mentioned Crimson Desert as a part of The Game Awards, he emphasized that this title is truly next-gen, and it shows. After the landscape shots are shown in the trailer, it quickly moves into a focus on the characters. The human, and even monstrous, models look like they are taking full advantage of high-powered PC tech and the Xbox Series X and PS5. Intense, emotional, and powerful moments are shown in the trailer, with facial expressions matching each second.

The trailer closes out with a focus on gameplay, as it looks like Crimson Desert will showcase high-action, smooth movement, and brutal attacks. With such a long and emotional trailer, it looks like Crimson Desert impressed Geoff Keighley and won a nice time-chunk on the show. There are a lot of games for Crimson Desert to compete against at the awards, like Dragon Age 4, but there is a very good chance that Crimson Desert won over fans as well.

Crimson Desert is arriving in winter 2021.
