Creed 3 has been well underway in its production as the upcoming boxing drama looks to build on the success of its two predecessors. Now, new set photos should keep plenty fans excited, as Michael B. Jordan can be seen directing a jacked Jonathan Majors on the beach.

MGM's Creed films, which are spin-off/sequel films to the Rocky franchise, have been worthy continuations, with Michael B. Jordan in the lead role as Adonis Creed, the son of Carl Weathers' Apollo Creed. Other than reprising his titular role, Jordan will also be making his directorial debut on the upcoming Creed 3.

With Creed 3 filming kicking off in Atlanta back in January, new set photos have surfaced online courtesy of TooFab, giving fans their first look at Majors' character in full training mode. With Majors seen training on a beach and knowing of Adonis' Cali roots, some of the story will presumably take place on the west coast. While many details surrounding his character have been kept under wraps, what has been confirmed is that he will play Adonis' main adversary.

Even though it's great to finally see Majors in action, what feels even more exciting is what Jordan is cooking up for this third entry. Following in the footsteps of acclaimed filmmakers like Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr., Jordan no doubt has big shoes to fill as a first time director. And while that may be intimidating, Majors has already said that he believes Jordan is creating something truly special.

Jordan previously expressed his excitement for beginning his directing journey and how veterans in the industry like Denzel Washington, who Jordan worked with on they recently released A Journal for Jordan, helped prepare him for helming his first feature. While there are of course doubts regarding if he can keep this next film in the franchise at a grounded level while also carrying the story on his own, especially after it was confirmed that Sylvester Stallone will not be returning to play Rocky, there's also plenty of hopefulness.

By taking advice from Washington and also adding an incredible talent like Majors to the cast, Jordan could possibly offer a fresh take on this story and produce something that fans still haven't seen, even if this will be the 9th film in the Rocky/Creed universe. The boxing drama will also see Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad reprise their respective roles as Bianca Taylor and Mary Anne Creed, while Coogler and his brother Keenan are working on the story and screenplay.

Creed 3 will arrive in theaters on November 23, 2022.
