Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot are two of gaming's most celebrated icons, with their original games having received remakes on modern consoles. The two classic platforming characters will now be competing against each other in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled when Spyro joins the race later this month. While there had been a leak of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled's DLC characters a while back, there was still no confirmation on whether the characters entailed would make their appearance.

According to the official PlayStation Blog, it would seem that Spyro will be heading to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled's roster on August 30. As per the blog entry on the "Spyro & Friends Grand Prix," it will offer "new characters, new karts, and new items into the race, and introduce a whole new track." Furthermore, the DLC is set to feature Spyro the Dragon on the opening screen.

The blog also offers many details on the upcoming Spyro DLC for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, one of the 10 most pre-ordered games of E3 2019. Unlockable characters in the Spyro & Friends Grand Prix include Spyro himself, as well as Gnasty Gnorc. Both will appropriately come with their respective karts, called the Spyromobile and the Gnasty Ride.

Spyro in Crash Team Racing

The Spyro Circuit is highlighted in the blog entry as one of the best components of the DLC pack, as it will have its own take on traditional elements seen in Crash Team Racing courses, including replacing Wumpa fruit with gems and power-up crates with chests. It also includes portals to different areas in Homeworlds seen throughout the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, such as the Magic Crafters Homeworld, High Caves and Wizard Peak, and the Artisans Homeworld.

Overall, the Spyro & Friends Grand Prix appears to include quite a bit of content and will be a trip down memory lane for those who haven't played the Spyro games in a while or the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Crash Team Racing developer Beenox puts a lot of care into their craft and listens to their fans, as demonstrated by the renaming of racially offensive skins. As such, there is a great likelihood that the Spyro & Friends Grand Prix will be of satisfaction to Crash Team Racing players.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is currently available on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
