Much like it'd done back in 2017, publisher Activision is bringing back the nostalgia of Crash Bandicoot with the upcoming release of the franchise's racing spin-off, Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled. While the game will be releasing across multiple consoles, PlayStation 4 users will be happy to know they'll be receiving some exclusive digital goodies when the remaster of the 1999 kart racer officially launches.

While Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled brings with it a complete graphical overhaul of the original game, PS4 users will have access to exclusive 32-bit inspired skins to choose from for various characters. This content is strictly a cosmetic one, and by the looks of the trailer, only the playable characters, such as Crash, CoCo, and Doctor Neo Cortex to name a few, can have their visuals modified, while the rest of the game is presented with its expected high-definition visuals.

To see some type of exclusive/timed-exclusive content for Crash Bandicoot for PlayStation 4 owners is nothing new. While 2017's Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is now on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, the remaster of the franchise's first three games was only playable on PS4 for the first year. In terms of the platforms CTR intends to release on first, it appears Activision and developer Beenox will be launching the game simultaneously across all three major consoles. Despite brief rumors of the Nintendo Switch version being postponed, retailers have confirmed the Switch port of the game won't be pushed back.

After rumors surfaced in early December, Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled was revealed at the 2018 Game Awards. Just a couple months ago, it was revealed all of the original game's features would be included in the remastered version of the game, such as levels, characters, and game modes, with the development team also releasing brand new gameplay footage of the Crash Team Racing remaster alongside the announcement.

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is now the third classic game remaster Activision has announced in the past three years. Following the release of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, developer Toys for Bob, alongside Activision, released Spyro Reignited Trilogy in November 2018. Here's hoping Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled can live up to the high bar set by those games.

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled will release on June 21st, 2019 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
