During Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, the company announces that the beloved Crash Bandicoot appears in Skylanders Imaginators as a playable character.
From the reveal of a new God of War game to the closing gameplay footage of the upcoming post-pandemic title Days Gone, many fans will agree that Sony’s E3 2016 press conference was chock full of many exciting moments. Plus, the company used its time during the Electronic Entertainment Expo showcase to put many rumors to rest regarding a new Crash Bandicoot title by revealing that he will be having his first two titles and Warped remastered for PS4, and that he is going to appear in Skylanders Imaginators.
Interestingly enough, this announcement confirms a retailer’s leak that the orange marsupial would be joining another original PlayStation alum in this franchise, for Spyro the Dragon was in the original Skylanders game, Spyro’s Adventure. However, it remains to be seen in what capacity the characters could cross paths or interact with one another as fans play through the title with Crash Bandicoot.
According to the trailer below, a wormhole has ostensibly opened in Skylanders Imaginators, bringing about the appearance of Aku Aku, as he has come to announce a once-in-two-decades Synchronization Celebration, which happens to be a time when all of the worlds align perfectly. However, Kaos wishes to take over Skylands using an army of Doomlanders, leading Crash Bandicoot to jump through the wormhole in order to defeat the foe. On the other hand, should players wish to go with another hero, the game is soon going to let players design their own characters with which to play.
While the announcement of Crash Bandicoot in Skylanders Imaginators makes for a great pairing, a lot of fans are surely disappointed to find out that the platform hero won’t be getting a fresh game all of his own. After all, many began speculating last year that there would eventually be a new game featuring the character in the works after the Chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios, Shawn Layden, came out during PSX wearing a shirt with the character emblazoned on the front.
Additionally, about a month ago, Sony said it was aware of the demand for a new Crash game, but didn’t directly address whether or not it would be a possibility, which further teased fans of the possibilities. Nevertheless, giving Crash Bandicoot a cameo in another title like Skylanders Imaginators is better than not having used him in any project at all.
What do you think about playing as Crash Bandicoot in Skylanders Imaginators? Are you disappointed that the character won’t be getting a brand new game all of his own? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Skylanders Imaginators is scheduled to release on October 16, 2016 for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U, with Crash Bandicoot set to join the party.
