Many will be happy that Crash Bandicoot games have come back into vogue, receiving a welcome return from veteran fans and enticing in newer gamers along the way. While some may be upset about Activision demanding always online features for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time on the PC, that hasn't stopped the series from enjoying a new lease of life in this modern era of gaming.

The success doesn't stop at PC or console versions of the game, either. The mobile title Crash Bandicoot: On The Run was released recently for Android and iOS and reports are already showing that it's been downloaded to devices more than 8 million times since launch day. This figure alone goes to show just how popular the Crash series still is.

On The Run was developed by King, the same company behind the massive Candy Crush Saga phenomenon which has been a mainstay in mobile gaming since launching in 2012. To put Crash's download numbers into perspective, on the day it was released, Candy Crush, arguably the most successful mobile game in history, was downloaded 1.4 million times.

It doesn't, however, stack up alongside Activision's Call of Duty: Mobile, released in 2019, which was downloaded more than 18 million times on launch day. However, that doesn't mean Crash Bandicoot is any less successful. With Activision, who published On The Run, saying the game would feature more than 100 hours of gameplay, and with the popularity of Crash Bandicoot 4, the gaming community can expect the launch day figure to only go up and up as the weeks and months go by.
