Crackdown 3 will be an Xbox Play Anywhere game, it has been confirmed. Announced all the way back at E3 2014, the PC and Xbox One game has had a lengthy development and was delayed into 2017 for undisclosed reasons.
Responding to a fan’s tweet, the official Twitter account promoting Crackdown 3 revealed that the game will “indeed” be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program. Play Anywhere games allow players to buy it on either Xbox One or PC and unlock a copy on the other platform. The game’s publisher Microsoft has been pushing the program in a big way and so the fact that Crackdown 3 is part of it comes as little surprise. But even so, fans are still ecstatic that its inclusion has been confirmed.
While that’s one frequently asked question answered, fans still want to know when they will see the game again. The game hasn’t been seen in the wild since a Crackdown 3 trailer was presented at gamescom 2015 and fans are eager to catch another glimpse of it. The series entry is set to feature destructible environments and explosions that wouldn’t look out of place in a blockbuster action movie and fans just want some more footage to sate their intrigue.

A brand new trailer or demo would also help to extinguish concerns about the game’s development. Earlier this year, an industry insider revealed that Crackdown 3‘s development has been “rough.” Although the insider did note that most games go through tricky development patches, the fact that the high-profile game has already been delayed once and has not been seen in a while led some fans to be concerned.
Promisingly, it seems that fans will not have much longer to wait before Microsoft shares something new of Crackdown 3. Another tweet from the game’s official account stated that it would see people “later this year,” suggesting that it is on track to hit the developer Reagent Games’ target of a holiday 2017 release date.
Unless Microsoft and Reagent are choosing to release the game this year without having promoted it at one of the biggest gaming events in the world (which is unlikely), it’s safe to say that Crackdown 3 will make an appearance at E3 2017 next month.
