A couple who found love on the virtual battlefields of Blizzard’s hit hero shooter Overwatch, eventually leading the two to tie the knot in real life, have shared their heartwarming story in a new video. As fans of the free-to-play shooter continue to work towards unlocking new Overwatch 2 hero Ramattra, this adorable video about love in the unlikeliest of places could provide the perfect break from the grind.

Released in October 2022, Overwatch 2 is the free-to-play sequel to developer Blizzard’s hit 2016 hero shooter, Overwatch. Featuring the return of fan-favorite characters like the Omnic monk Zenyatta alongside new faces such as Ramattra and Junker Queen, and introducing new game modes and maps, Overwatch 2 was highly anticipated by fans of the first title. While many of the new additions to the sequel were welcomed by gamers, the change to a 5v5 format for online matches and a myriad of technical problems have left many players less than satisfied with Overwatch 2 since the game’s release.

In an adorable new video posted to TikTok, user bunniixo shared a montage covering the trajectory of her and her husband’s relationship from their meeting in Overwatch in 2017 to their wedding earlier this year. Opening the video with bunniixo dispensing some healing to her future husband as the angelic support character Mercy in Overwatch, captions explain that the two were 15 when they met online and living nearly 2000 miles apart. As clips play of the two on cross-country trips to see each other in 2020, the text states that her beau promised to marry her someday. He stayed true to his promise, as the two moved in together in 2021 and were married this November.

Responses to the heartwarming video were overwhelmingly positive, with multiple comments congratulating the two lovestruck gamers on their recent marriage. Referencing an Overwatch meta where Mercy sticks to healing and boosting only one ally, many comments joked that her husband now had his own pocket Mercy. Others responding to the couple’s video shared their own stories of finding love thanks to Overwatch, with one user stating that she and her boyfriend met thanks to Blizzard’s shooter and were about to celebrate five years together.

While most players signing in to Overwatch are happy when they can walk away with a few wins and maybe a new skin for their favorite character, it seems that for these two gamers there was an even better prize waiting at the end of the round. With no announcement of honeymoon plans listed in the video, maybe the happy couple could plan a peaceful getaway to the recently refurbished Blizzard World in Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
