So far Valve has graced Mac users with a slew of titles, including larger ones like Portal, Torchlight, Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. One of the missing classics is Counter-Strike: Source, but Valve has announced it will be coming to Mac next week through Steam.

Due to E3, Valve stated that there will be no new releases for Mac this week - but there are plenty of the staff in the office working to get Counter-Strike: Source ready for Apple fans to play sometime next week. They didn't say if the updates currently in beta for PC will be launched and live with the release simultaneously, however it makes sense as this will be another cross-platform multiplayer title available in Steam.

Personally, I'm extremely excited to get back into Counter-Strike. It's been awhile, but it is one of my favorite games to date that I've spent many nights playing - only to stop when I realized the sun was coming up. Some people haven't moved away from the title, but I've been separated since having less than decent laptops and eventually becoming a Mac user. Since Steam hit the Mac, Counter-Strike has been the one title I was waiting for the most, and thankfully that wait will subside next week.

Counter-Strike: Source was a 2004 revamp to the original Counter-Strike that launched in 1999 as a Half-Life mod. There is no specific day for the Mac launch, but don't expect much earlier than Thursday or Friday when referencing Valve time. All we need now is a full-fledged Counter-Strike 2!

Are you looking forward to more de_dust, campers, the L337 Kr3w, and the rest that comprise Counter-Strike: Source?
