Coral Island is a farming simulation that focuses on a new farmer coming to a new home on a tropical island. This island is in trouble, and only the player can help out with their farm and their connection with the local goddess.

In order to get Coral Island back in shape, players will need to harvest, collect, mine, upgrade, and buy all sorts of items. And holding all of those items can be a challenge with the starting bags; they start very small with a limited number of spaces. So players will want to quickly figure out how to expand their inventory in this successfully Kickstarted indie game.

How to Upgrade Bag Space in Coral Island

Thankfully, in the Stardew Valley-like game Coral Island, players don't need tons of items or anything weird to upgrade their bags; new bags only cost the in-game currency, which is called gold. In order to expand players' bag space, just head to Sam's store. It's located in the middle of the Town location, to the east of the farm.

Sam's store is open from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday to Saturday and has shortened hours of noon to 5 PM on Sunday. This is the main store for food in the area; players can buy seeds, stamina food, healing food, ingredients, and more.

One of the major things that players of this farming simulation video game set in a rural town can buy here is the upgrade for their bags, though. While these are expensive, especially early game, players will find the extra space pays for itself.

In order to get an upgrade, head up to the counter at Sam's. Next, click on the counter in front of where Sam is standing and not Sam himself. Clicking on Sam will open up dialogue options, but on the counter will open up the menu options to purchase from the store. Click on "Upgrade Bags," and then the game will confirm the player's choice.

Cost for Bag Upgrades

The starting bag for Coral Island players contains 10 slots. There are a total of four bag upgrades, and here are the prices:

  • Backpack level 2 has 20 slots. It costs 500 gold.
  • Backpack level 3 has 30 slots. It costs 3,500 gold.
  • Backpack level 4 has 40 slots. It costs 12,000 gold.

There is another shop in town that sells fashion items, like new shoes, backpacks, and clothing, but these are just visual changes. The actual size of the bag is determined by the purchase at Sam's and not anywhere else.

Coral Island is available for PC and is coming soon to Nintendo Switch.
