Brand new culinary life sim Epic Chef has just been announced by developer Infinigon Games and Publisher Team17. The unusual cooking game can now be viewed on Steam.

There have been plenty of cooking sims making the rounds recently, but it seems that Epic Chef is taking a more narrative approach to its gameplay. Though there isn't a release date for the game yet, Steam lists it as "coming soon."

In Epic Chef, players take on the role of a guy named Zest who is tasked with farming, crafting, and cooking, creating a unique menu and competing against rival chefs in culinary clashes. According to the game's Steam listing, no two judges have the same taste and dishes are scored against a wide variety of criteria, making the competition to become "cooking king" a dynamic one. The game also boasts "thousands" of ingredients with which to craft recipes and dishes, giving players as much choice as possible in their cooking.

The quirky trailer shows off some more medieval-themed elements of the game, as well as its building mechanics; apparently, food won't be the only thing players make. In addition to game cuisine, players will also develop their farms and meet the locals, introducing the "slice of life" element of the game, as there appears to be a decent number of NPCs to meet.

Anyone interested in this odd little cooking sim can add it to their wishlists on Steam.

Epic Chef is in development for PC.
