Across Devsisters' many games, the Cookie Run series has garnered a rather big following in the last 12 years. While the series started out small, initially known as OvenBreak, it has seen new life with several new titles over the years. The games that current fans should be most familiar with are Cookie Run Kingdom and Cookie Run OvenBreak, with the latter being a spiritual successor to their first title.

While the Cookie Run series started small, it has since grown to become a series known for unique character designs and a spawling amount of lore. From details such as leaving the Ninja Cookie's ingredients a secret to fit his nature, to the story of Twizzly Gummy Cookie dealing with time travel and alternate dimensions, the Cookie Run lore runs surprisingly deep. With all of this information at fans' fingertips, though, one Cookie's lore is scattered across all of the game's titles. Many players may be wondering just who GingerBrave is, and what his story is like.

Across all Cookie Run games, GingerBrave has always been the first Cookie players start off with. The OvenBreak titles begin with GingerBrave being baked in the oven belonging to witches, who have used magical recipes to make Cookies like him who are alive. When GingerBrave comes to life, he's in the process of being baked in a hot oven, and quickly becomes afraid. This leads to him quickly taking a chance to run out of the oven away from the witches, and that becomes the start of the original titles, as well as GingerBrave's story throughout all of the titles.

While this is how GingerBrave started out as a character, it also tells the story of the Cookies that came before him, before the world of Cookie Run became as Cookie-filled as it is in the current story across the games. While many games credit GingerBrave to be the "first Cookie to escape the witch," it was only one witch in this instance, as many more have made other Cookies before he was baked, such as the legendary Cookies like Pure Vanilla Cookie that were lost in the war seen in Cookie Run Kingdom's prologue.

While GingerBrave is in many different titles as the first Cookie, he doesn't necessarily perform well in comparison to other Cookies. In the newest smartphone version of OvenBreak, GingerBrave sits at a meager B-tier in regards to his strength. In Cookie Run: Kingdom, he's relegated to only being good for his ability in things such as the Kingdom Arena, which can stun enemies and is easy to raise. He also tends to be seen as bad luck by many players in that game, as only GingerBread appearing when fans are spending gems for new Cookies tends to mean the pull has a low chance of any Cookies being in it.

As GingerBrave has been the face of the franchise, there's been some interesting trivia regarding the gingerbread Cookie. For a few years since his creation and the start of the English translation of the Korean-made series, he was known as Brave Cookie, which matches the other Cookies' naming themes. He also had a brother known as Dozer in the second iteration of OvenBreak, but he was caught and eaten by the witch. This brother isn't mentioned in any other Cookie Run games, so he's most likely been written out of the story.

GingerBrave may seem like a good protagonist to lead a series about talking Cookies, but the opinion players have seems to be that they either love him or hate him. They either love him for his innocent and adventure-loving personality, or hate him for how he tiers so low in the games or curses players when they're whaling in the gacha portion of the games. Despite how fans feel, however, Devsisters has celebrated his inclusion in the games many times, including making June 12th his birthday. As the poster boy for Cookie Run, he's most likely sticking around as long as the series keeps running.
