After a delay last year, Control: Ultimate Edition launched its next-generation upgrade earlier this month, with the bundle joining PlayStation Plus' monthly lineup of free games and dropping at retail price on the Xbox Series X. Shortly after its release, Xbox players began reporting a number of issues with the Series X port, claiming it was crashing frequently and was in need of some stability improvements.

Earlier this week, 505 Games Support told a fan on Twitter that a fix to the Control: Ultimate Edition issue was in the works, stating "We are aware of stability issues that Series X and PCGP players are experiencing and are looking into them." According to the publisher's support team, "we are seeing them in both performance and graphics modes in retail environments," promising that it will let fans know when there's an update on the issue.

Players experiencing issues reported they'd received a large number of crashes to the Xbox home screen during play, with the Twitter user who 505 responded to, Matias Ali, claiming they'd been hit with 6 to 7 crashes during their 6 hours with the title. According to Ali, reinstalling the game didn't alleviate the crashing issues. 505 later provided a rough ETA regarding when players might see the patch, claiming that it was aiming to have it finished and sent out by the end of the week. In the meantime, it's also set up a place for players to report issues with the game, which can be found over on 505 Games Support's Twitter.

As for Control: Ultimate Edition, the game's next-generation update has been a subject of controversy over the past few months, with players who already owned Control and its two additional DLC packs sharing their frustration that 505 Games didn't offer a free upgrade to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The publisher later went on to offer PlayStation Plus subscribers the enhanced version for no additional cost, with the game headlining February's lineup alongside the PlayStation-5-exclusive Destruction Allstars and the PlayStation 4's Concrete Genie.

The pack features Control's base campaign, The Foundation and AWE story expansions, and the aforementioned next-generation upgrade. The latter includes a performance mode, which allows the game to run in 60 FPS, and a graphics mode, which is locked to 30 FPS but features 4K visuals. Its loading times have also been improved to account for the PS5 and Xbox Series X's enhanced SSD, while PlayStation buyers get the addition of haptic feedback features thanks to the DualSense controller.

Control: Ultimate Edition is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
