Remedy Entertainment's latest title Control has been kicking up a storm since being released in 2019, gathering a plethora of high review scores and being nominated for numerous awards. Its popularity is likely the reason it was ported to current gen consoles, with a recent Xbox Series X patch being released to fix some issues. Now it appears that a PC update will likely be making fans equally happy.
Upon release, Control was able to support both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 on PC though following a post-launch update, support for DX11 was unfortunately removed. Now, according to a report, it looks as though the studio will be remedying the issue through yet another patch which brings DX11 support back. Why support for it was removed in the first place is uncertain, however speculations may state that the company wished to focus on current, rather than older, tech.
The long and the short of it seems to be that PC gamers who have older systems, particularly older GPUs, will be able to play the game again. Steam users will automatically get the Control patch when they next log in, providing they have automatic updates switched on. Once downloaded, the game should be compatible with a lot more systems worldwide.
This is likely to be good news for many PC gamers. With new graphics cards still difficult to get hold of, not being able to play the latest games is bound to be frustrating. With the ability to play games like Control on older computers, Remedy Entertainment has basically ensured the longevity of its game for some time.
Control is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X.
